What a year it's been

Postby KaiserGlider » Sep 11, '16, 10:59 pm

- Styles debuts in WWE, beats John Cena clean at Summerslam, wins world title a month later
- Lesnar had another UFC fight and won by unanimous decision
- CM Punk... also fought in UFC!
- Shane jumped off the hell in a cell
- the brand split came back
- Kevin Owens, Nakamura, Styles holding the top 3 belts in WWE
- Balor won the world title in his first main roster PPV
- The Shield triple threat finally happened
- Roman Reigns lost clean to Seth Rollins
- Final Deletion in TNA
- Heath Slater is one of the most over characters in WWE
- The Network having shoot-style shows that cater to smarks
- Aries, Roode, Joe all working for WWE and being treated as legit stars
- Bullet Club in WWE
- Jericho getting into a fight with Brock
- Eric Rowan was in a singles match with The Rock at Wrestlemania

And that's not counting politics.

^How has Slater gone from being the guy jobbing to over? I take it Lesnar's comments about his kids helped garner sympathy for him?

We all like a good underdog story. He cut a decent promo the week before that, and the Lesnar thing helped solidify it when he wasn't afraid to take on Lesnar. It helps that he's genuinely happy to do this role.

I think it's genuinely because he has been entertaining. When you are entertaining, people want to see more of you. I doubt they expected this to get him over but it usually works like that. When a wrestler gets over, they need to just roll with it.

Heath Slater actually seems like a pretty chill guy. I saw someone post a story or r/squaredcircle. Now, how true this story is, I don't know. But he basically told the story of how he met Heath Slater in a bar one time and started talking to him. Slater basically said that he doesn't really need to be the guy who main events all the time and he doesn't need to be a world champion. The only thing he cares about is being used and being out there in the ring, no matter what he is doing. He said even that time when he lost every single week to those legends, he loved it because he was appearing on Raw every week and he was out there putting on a show for all the fans, which is all he wanted to do. I think that's a pretty cool attitude to have.
