Ashes 2013 Thread: Australia vs. England

Postby AkydefGoldberg » Nov 18, '13, 11:36 am

Ashes series starts on Wednesday. 11pm on Sky Sports 1 for UK viewers.

Expecting England to win 4-1. A similiar story as last time round. I think in the crucial portions of the match, England's experience will be too much. Australia to give a spirited effort and will win a Test on home soil but just not enough.

Yeah there has been in which England won 3-0. But they are playing the series in Australia, which would have been played next November, this year due to the World Cup that takes place in 2015. To give both teams appropriate preparation for that tournament.

The last WC in 2011, saw both England and Australia play the Ashes in Australia which finished in January 2011 and felt they needed more time to prep for the WC hence why they are playing back to back series this year.

Darts is a more of a socially, let's make alot of noise, pissed, and watch darts whilst cricket is more for the well rounded individual. T20 is fun to watch. Test cricket is endurance and ODI's can be fun aswell.

I can't watch darts at all, can't believe the publicity it gets. How it's a "sport" baffles me.

As a proud Aussie, Im super excited about this series - I feel as though our batting pitches will allow for a few more draws (as there is no way we will beat England)!

I dont stomach it. Can't stand the sport. Its boring as shit, you a hand-sized trophy. and The Ashes inside that trophy aren't even real.

LOL. The origins of the Ashes are more sort of humorous than serious hence the not so real Ashes. England-Australia rivalry has absolutely nothing on India-Pakistan. If you lose, you're fucked.

Postby The Milkman » Nov 19, '13, 9:25 pm

Been looking forward to this test since the last series finished. I'll be up bright and early for that first ball. I think England will go in strong favourites, butI'm expecting it to be much closer than the 3-0 drubbing in the English summer. I think if Australia can win the first test in Brisbane it's fucking on!

My predictions
End of series result 2-1 win to Australia
Most runs - Ian Bell (had been in superb touch)
Most wickets - Mitchell Johnson (Our wildcard, if he gets it right he's vital)
Man of the series - Michael Clarke (I can't see him failing to make lots of runs if his back doesn't play up)

I know they are pretty bold predictions but England are in the decline.
Its going to be a rowdy summer! Aussie, Aussie, Aussie!!

Big chance for the Aussies to set the tone for the Test as they've won the toss and are batting.

Its only Rogers, he is terrible anyhow.

One of the papers over here has a 'Broad Ban' where they won't mention his name, and only show photos of his back :P

I heard Athers talk about that on commentary, slightly OTT but assume it's all fun natured.

They're hoping with this campaign to see the back of Broad... ;-)

I wouldn't have walked if I was in his position either. I hated that it caused so much uproar if I'm being perfectly honest.

Broad is bowling well, but some of those shots that he got wickets off are absolutely terrible! Amatures!
