DARK SOULS III

Not exactly an in depth look at the game but it's certainly a very exciting one. Gonna be able to play it early next year. The visual design seemed absolutely spot on, I'll be ravenous waiting for this. That Giant Lord was so bloody hype!

I've still never played Dark Souls games (watched some stream) and they look hard, albeit interesting and fun. Steam Sale has them both relatively cheap right now for PC (DS1 and DS2: Something something remastered or something like that). Should I even bother with the first game or should I just pick up the second one?

I was excited until I saw 2016. Why do they announce games so early? That was the cool thing about Fallout 4, they announced it 5 months before hand. Which isn't too far away by announcement standards.

@Locke
Get the first, definitely. It's the superior game by far though DkS2 SotFS is pretty good too. They're not so hard, you just need to learn how the games work. They're fantastically rewarding when you do.

Dark souls has a much more coherent story compared to the second, is imo more challenging, and more rewarding to the observant gamer. Map wise, tactically and gameplay mechanics (some exceptions) are probably better. Get it for 7 bucks, install DSFix and enjoy the ride. It's super cheap and has a lot of hours worth to enjoy.

I have played both Dark souls II and am in the process of Dark Souls II Scholar of the first sin. Don't get them both, just get the scholar version. It is more optimized, visually a bit more appealing, and really seems like the whole package it should have been in the first place. It also comes with all 3 expansion packs built in. There is really no reason to get the other version. You can't even play online with the people who play different versions. Only downside to the Scholar version is they gave you the option to make the game really easy via summonable allies. Too many NPC summons.

As for DkSIII. I will buy it. I will pre-order it and if there is a collectors edition I will likely get that as well. I am an avid souls fan. Ask me anything about the games and I will likely have some insight for you.

Trailer in my opinion isn't much to gawk at, it's more the fact it just exists.

As for release date 2016, I believe it did say early 2016, which lets be honest is only 6 months away. So it's not that bad.
