Your PL 14/15 end of season awards

Postby AkydefGoldberg » May 16, '15, 10:42 am

Season's nearly over so dish the awards out lads!

Player of the season? Eden Hazard
Manager of the season? Mark Hughes
Match of the season? Chelsea 6-3 Everton
Pundit of the season? Gary Neville
Football writer of the season? Daniel Taylor - would agree with Mackay plus all of his columns are a must read for me.

Signing of the season? Diego Costa
Flop of the season? Radamel Falcao
Goal of the season? Mata's second vs. Liverpool

And for your own club...
Player of the season? David De Gea
Match of the season? 4-2 Man City
Signing of the season? Marcos Rojo (not a great list to choose from but think he's settled and performed admirably)
Flop of the season? Falcao
Goal of the season? Mata's second vs. Liverpool

Player of the season? Eden Hazard, but he needs to improve still.
Manager of the season? Alan Pardew, anyone who says otherwise is an idiot. He's saved two clubs from relegation this year.
Match of the season? Chelsea 6-3 Everton
Pundit of the season? Thierry Henry because he gives honest opinions and doesn't cover them in bells, whistles and other shitty hyperbole like most Sky pundits.
Football writer of the season? Me, with my incredible topics on here

Signing of the season? Nemanja Matic
Flop of the season? Radamel Falcao, lol
Goal of the season? Pelle vs QPR

And for your own club...
Player of the season? Christian Benteke or Ciaran Clark
Match of the season? 2-0 loss against Hull, as Lambert finally pissed off
Signing of the season? None of them
Flop of the season? All of them
Goal of the season? Gil vs Bournemouth

Player of the season? Eden Hazard
Manager of the season? Pardew - not only are Palace a stable Premier League club but they also play really nice football.
Match of the season? Chelsea 6-3 Everton because I can't think of anything else right now.
Pundit of the season? Gary Neville
Football writer of the season? I read the papers/online shit all the time but I won't pretend I pay attention to who writes them...so..uh...PorkChop.

Signing of the season? Matic. Anybody would have bagged goals in that Chelsea team this season so whilst Costa is a good choice I'll go with Nemanja Matic who was integral in Chelsea's impressive defensive record.
Flop of the season? Radamel Falcao
Goal of the season? Matty Phillips' 45 yarder against whoever it was, you know the goal I'm on about.

And for your own club... (I'll stick with Liverpool due to nobody caring about League One)
Player of the season? Coutinho
Match of the season? Spurs 0-3 Liverpool. The team was playing great stuff, last seasons optimism was still around and Balotelli actually played well.
Signing of the season? None, not one of them has been consistently good enough to warrant this. I'll give praise to Moreno and Lallana because I like them but still, meh.
Flop of the season? Baloltelli
Goal of the season? Coutinho's absolute screamer against Southampton. Special mention to Henderson vs Man City.

Wasn't Matic a January signing last year?

You might be right, actually. I wasn't sure.

I can't actually think of a stand-out signing from the summer.

The first signing that came to mind for me was Alexis Sanchez. He's fit into that Arsenal team really well and been pretty important to their success this year.

Why?

He spent a ton of money and Southampton find themselves one place ahead of where they were last season. They probably should be even higher, but he refused to sign a striker in the January transfer window and persisted with Pelle, even though he hadn't scored for 15 games. During this time they lost crucial fixtures despite having an almost full-strength squad. Koeman hasn't done anything particularly noteworthy except for finding decent replacements for a bunch of players, but for the money he was allowed to spend, you'd expect nothing less.

People I'd have over Koeman:
Pardew
Monk
Sherwood (especially if Villa win the FA Cup final)
I'd even consider having Pearson above Koeman.

£4m a year for boring punditry me thinks. TBF, he's better than Redknapp which is pretty easy to do but he's only become entertaining these last few weeks with his unfair bashing of Chicharito, and general tendency to question things abit more. Gary Neville, is still, the king.

I'd like to change my pick for match of the season (knew there was one I was forgetting) to Leicester beating Man United 5-3, easily the best game of the season!
