Now that the redesign is done, it's time for a rebrand.

Come introduce yourself, have a drink and talk about anything! This is the place for any and all off-topic conversations.

Does mean that you have to redesign again too? Poor Tim. :lol

This sounds like a good idea. This site is still always at its busiest when there's stuff going on in wrestling. I agree that we should also have it in the domain name, because it attracts more hits and that's basically the entire reason we're doing this.

I would have liked the IWC Forums one, because it pretty accurately sums up the crowd we have so far. But it doesn't have the word wrestling in it. Maybe InternetWrestlingClub.com if it's available?

I like WrestlingCircle and WrestlingBanter too. I'm not as keen on the BoardofWrestling name - while I like the pun, it's not a pun that really encourages people to sign up. :P

InternetWrestlingClub isn't a bad choice. IWC itself can have a negative connotation with some of the worst of online wrestling fans :P . But InternetWrestlingClub has the acronym ability. I dunno.

Haha nahh, all the leg work has already been done. All I'd need to do is change the background and header (really quick changes after I fixed all the code) and some of the buttons on the site, which would also be pretty easy. The hardest part was the colors and some of the coding, and that's all going to stay the same.

I cant help but think that from a promotional aspect we should mirror something popular to pick up on it.

With that be8ng said anything similar to squared circle would work

I prefer IWC.com it's nifty and it fits.

Main Event forums is nice but there's issues with promotion there.

IWC.com is taken, but IWCforums.com is free.

PorkChop wrote:The main problem I have was that we've been a wrestling forum before, and we failed. Most of our user base here were part of a wrestling forum which ran for 11 years, and barely had any traffic whatsoever - particularly over the past 5 years or so.

There are several reasons why WWE-Club failed. It was poorly moderated and Bryan was against almost any ideas of expansion/evolving. Despite that, WWE-Club still did generate a lot of traffic - the problem is people weren't joining. There was no homepage, the interface was out of style, so on and so forth. Nothing to attract people to the forum. I am confident we won't repeat those same mistakes. Still, the WWE-Club was successful. I can't speak on the activity in its early days (2004-2006, whatever it may be), but several people still joined. I could be wrong but I'm pretty sure you came after me, so did Locke, Philip Rivers, NoDQ, xgamr, etc. It is effective. We just need to keep pushing rather than be content like Bryan and Crissay (who was very active when I first joined and then stopped showing up).

The issue with MainEventForums is that, while it caters to more than one group of people, the title itself isn't specific enough. "Wrestling" in the name is likely to get us far more traffic than "MainEventForums". I can truly say I wouldn't have joined WWE-Club if I didn't know it was a wrestling site. Probably wouldn't have clicked on it.

There is reason wrestlingforum is as active as it is. It isn't because they have huge financial funding (reddit) or quality that much better than ours. They have a name that is to the point and attracts a lot of traffic while also having a continually updated homepage. More traffic = more members = more activity = forum gets around and more well-known.

Also, the more members we have, the more likely we will be getting people who are fans of MMA and boxing. We won't be de-emphasizing the sports section or anything like that. Just placing more of an emphasis on wrestling and presenting ourselves to outside eyes as a wrestling forum. I think we should try to be specific.

^I don't disagree with what your saying, but be prepared for the downside of a ton of traffic as well. Wrestlingforums is the best example of constant trolls and debate going way off the rails at times. It is to be expected, but if we do expand past a certain amount of people, I would like a VIP area type section. Just so we can get away from the constant outlandish opinions and smack debates. I don't know if this is possible, but its an idea.

I'm not particularly concerned about us getting overwhelmed with traffic in the short term, but if things do take off, that will be a bridge we'll have to cross, yeah.

I do like BoardOfWrestling, but you know I can't resist a pun.

Honestly, my favorite one so far is InternetWrestlingClub. One, it spells out who we are nice and succinctly. Two, it has an easy and recognizable acronym. Three, I don't know if anyone else caught this, but it's actually a neat little call-back to where we all first met, WWE-Club. That's my vote.

Yeah, I thought it'd be cool if we could refer to the forum as "the club" again. I don't think I ever quite got out of the habit of doing that.

We can make the IWC cool again. ;)

I've always found it funny that IWC became a bit of an insult, given that it's an insult that's only ever used by people who talk about wrestling on the internet. Making fun of the IWC is like saying "everyone here is lame except me". It's a little obnoxious.

I have to say, WrestlingCircle takes my pick. Some of the other favoured names seem abit too "childish" if that's the right word. Wrestling definitely needs to be in but feel should try to be abit more mature in the naming. WrestlingCircle just would, if I was searching for a wrestling forum, catch my attention.

I like the less direct ones like Ring Generals and Kayfabe Club, but I understand needing to get the hits. IWCForums is also good, I also like Wrestle Rally, smart wrestling, wrestling roundtable, wrestling circle.

WrestlingRabble.com
wwfuniverse.com (ha that's open)
whitemeatbabyface.com
Stonecoldwrestling.com (Seriously no one took this?)
wonderfulworldofwrestling.com

All are open for 3 bucks.

We should start a poll with all the names, everyone gets 5 votes, then we whittle it down to the top 5 and go from there.
