Aky, we don't need permission to use the pound. Russia doesn't need permission to use the pound. The issue is that Westminster is refusing to discuss a currency union (or indeed any contingency plan in the event of a Yes outcome it seems). Basically that means we would be free to use the pound but we would have no access to the assets of the Bank of England. However, Salmond has said that if the rUK don't negotiate on this, he's not going to take on any of the UK's national debt.

You are correct as far as I know. An example is Iceland was considering using the Canadian dollar last year(?) despite not being a part of our country. I believe they have gone with the Euro though? I think it can fuck with the value of the currency though so people of the home country aren't always pleased if another country uses their money.

It's a shame we didn't see a Yes. It would have been something to tell the grandkids but tbh, the turnout has been immense. 86%. Hopefully it will ignite Scottish folk to become more involved with their politics and push the three parties who seemed intent on bending over as much as they could to get the No vote.

Salmond resigns - surprising a tad but I doubt had he won, Cameron would have resigned but would have overshadowed his premiership no doubt.

Unfortunately the number of idiots that have decided to bring shame on Scotland after having presented itself in such a good light this summer has cast a dark shadow on the campaign. The vile abuse that Yes voters are posting on Facebook is just pathetic. I think I saw someone post clips or stills of alleged voter rigging. I saw one guy get called all sorts of names by Yes voters because he was a staff member counting votes and could be seeing writing something. But nobody knows what he was writing, nobody knows what the bit of paper was! You can't tamper with them anyway! Fools. The 'riots' in George Square last night which looked to have been started by the No voters is just a horrible conclusion to the vote.

Even with an 85% record turn out, which is something to be IMMENSELY proud of, too many idiots were allowed to vote based on what bias article they had read on somebody elses facebook status. I don't believe enough people did enough research, but hey, everyone is entitled to their vote.

I'll still call myself a proud Scot, and I said that before the result. Let's move on and make Scotland better.

Sad to see trouble between Unionists and Independence supporters atm - hopefully it dies down but don't see the point. No campaign won so what's the point in a coming together at George Square? Minority causing beef for no reason I reckon.

I think, and hope, that it has died down already. Not aware of anything happening tonight at least. I didn't read too much on the stand off last night but it seems to be that it was the Unionists who caused most of the trouble, probably in relation to Scotlands Shame - the Old Firm.

In a way, it's good that Celtic and Rangers aren't playing each other anytime soon. I imagine recent events might have stirred up trouble between the hardcore element of both sets of fans.
