Honestly, the amount of delusion that surrounds the club is quite shocking.

When reports saying Dejan Lovren had handed in a transfer request came out, I spoke about it on Twitter and several Saints fans called me a prick, a 'skate cunt', and said the reports were nothing more than a "media conspiracy against Saints" (direct quote) and they laughed at the legitimacy of newspapers who ran the story, such as The Guardian.

It's been about three weeks since then, and now, Lovren hasn't shown up for training and has told the club he doesn't want to return, to try and force through a transfer to Liverpool.

I'm currently hunting down those fans who called me a prick and laughed at me, to ask them whether they still believe this is a media conspiracy against Saints and nothing more. He who laughs last, and all that.

Southampton had a pretty good year last season and the fans have gotten a little too big for their boots. All their best players are leaving for bigger clubs but that hasn't done anything to remedy the swollen ego of a portion of the fans, some of them are bloody ridiculous.

He's not the best player but up there, no doubt as the best technical midfielder the Premier League saw. If you wanted the best goal-scoring midfielder - Lampard. Best midfielder who drives a team on - Gerrard. The controlling midfielder - Scholes.

Those long list of quotes of some of the footballing greats that have talked so highly of Scholes ain't no fluke. The latter part of his career was probably when he was most effective, controlling things from deep yet in his earlier days, he had the most incredible knack of driving into the box and getting onto the end of things.

But he can't tackle sadly.
