Apparently he put in transfer request with interest from West Brom or a lower table PL team? If so, what a prick after Hughton spent money on him and the guy, as with most strikers from Scotland who do well, struggled to replicate that in the PL. But tbf, maybe didn't have the service he needed but felt it was a poor return.

Agreed, Pirlo is a legend of the game.
I've been arguing with a few Saints fans on Twitter. They seem to think that as their players are under long term contracts, they won't be able to leave. If this was true and contracts bound you to your club, football teams would only ever sign players who were out of contract.
