If you could do any job...

Come introduce yourself, have a drink and talk about anything! This is the place for any and all off-topic conversations.

If you could do any job...

Postby Everlong » Jun 09, '14, 9:39 am

No matter how unrealistic, what would it be? Let's say money isn't a factor here. What one thing would you want to do every single day?

I think it'd be pretty awesome to work for an NFL team. Sportswriter would be cool too, but the state of sports media is pretty shoddy these days and it might get annoying to be a part of that culture.

Novelist is obviously the go to. I'd love to write for TV or film, less work, more money, same profession really.

Other than that, I always wanted to work in theatre. Not necessarily acting, although I did enjoy it, but the production side of it. Always found that fascinating.

I reckon it'd be pretty cool to work for WWE in some capacity, camera guy or something like that.

I think if I were to work for an NFL team with personnel, GM would be the way to go. All those jobs are so high-stress though... it'd be really tough, but it'd be a fun challenge.

Even just working in PR for a pro sports team would be pretty sweet.

NFL or MLB head of scouting. My life would be about traveling to sporting events and making decisions on draft day. Also I would never lose fantasy football again with all the insider knowledge. :lol

Id love to be an MLB Scout. Like DBOST said, traveling all around the country and watching games. Thats the life right there. Id like that way more than being a GM.

Working for Sky Sports News would be one, probably on Soccer Saturday. Or on TalkSport chatting shit about the games and stuff, pretty much anything related to football.

PR would be a great way to go and more realistic for me, but GM would be like a dream job. I mean ever since I was little I remember sitting around with my grandfather and we would talk about this player over this player and what it would take to make a trade for the Indians or who the Browns should draft and even now, I find I spend most of my daydreaming time and my idle time thinking about pro sports moves and the like. It's just something I would love to do. Plus, even if it is a high-stress situation, the deals they get usually afford you to take a year or two off every time you get fired because of the severance package/pure money they make - they can recharge their batteries that way.

I'd love to run a small business. Nothing overly major, a café perhaps. I've always adored business and it's one of the few things I'm genuinely good at. If I ever get in a position where I can take out a substantial loan from the bank, I'll probably take the leap and do it. Simple food, a good selection of drinks and quality control - It's a winner.

Ornamental metalwork of some kind... possibly jewellery. I definitely regret giving up metalwork in school.

I'd have a boner all day sitting next to Nat Sawyer and the rest of the female presenters. :vince

As a kid, I'd had huge dreams of becoming a professional footballer but sadly, realised I was shit (think I'd have been better plying my trade as a goalkeeper than an outfield player).

Other than that, I'd love to have become an actor. I really enjoyed Drama at school and my final performance as part of my GCSE grade, I would say with modesty - was fucking brilliant. I played two roles, one of them in a Scottish accent and even my teacher came up afterwards and shook my hand. I can't remember him doing that to anyone else. I never got the encouragement to pursue it further sadly.

I'd love to work in comic books. Whether as an artist or a writer. Alternatively, I'd love to be a screen writer or a movie director. The absolute ideal one though would be an actor. Unfortunately, I am severely untalented at all of those.

I actually snagged an audition for a big film after my GCSE Drama performance. My group of 3 wrote/directed/performed 'The Assassination of John Lennon' as a Brechtian comedy. I played split-personality disorder suffering George Harrison and his evil alter-ego 'Ringo Starr'. The performance got me an A* and two weeks later I was invited to audition for a role in the film 'The Selfish Giant' though obviously I didn't get the part.
