Apparently in The S*n today they describe Wilshere as the closest thing England have to Xavi or Iniesta. I don't know whether to pass out laughing or vomit everywhere.

With the amount of injuries he has, he's the equivalent of a modern-day Darren Anderton.

Surely I'm not the only one who thinks Pochettino (bookies favourite) would be a horrible appointment at Tottenham? Of the names linked with the job I'd say De Boer would be the most suited to the job but honestly I can't think of anyone that's going to make a big difference there.

Wilshere is extremely fortunate to get in considering he's been injured for the back end of the season. Henderson, should quite rightly, start alongside Gerrard.

On Pochettino, he's done a good job at Southampton but I've got doubts whether he'd translate that success to Tottenham. You're right Prophet, De Boer is a better fit.

Pochettino is a fantastic manager, he plays good football and has done wonders with a Southampton squad that would of went down if Adkins had stayed in charge.

Southampton would have gone down with Adkins in charge? Not a single chance, he was doing well.

Agreed, they were never going to go down. His sacking came as a shock as he was doing so well.

^Shocked by that. Can only assume there's resentment at Nasri for his behaviour in Euro 2012 when he shushed journalists after scoring against England. Clichy left out aswell.

Apparently Villa midfielder Chris Herd has retired at 25. He left in March this year and the club said he was gone indefinitely for personal reasons.

I've heard a fair few stories but it's thought that his newborn daughter has health problems. If this is true I wish him and his daughter all the best. He was a very promising player a few seasons back, much better than some of the midfielders and defenders we have at the moment.

Cardozo and Rodrigo are responsible for Benfica crashing out the UEFA Cup Final on penalties after both taking the two most ridiculous penalties I've ever seen.

They should be absolutely ashamed.

Betting has been suspended on Moyes becoming the next Villa manager. Perhaps someone somewhere knows something we don't.

I'd take him, all day - I've said before that his time at Everton was overrated but I think he'd do a solid job at Villa - could help steady the ship.

Jack Rodwell is set to be released by Man City. You have to laugh. He was doing so well at Everton - solid Premier League level defensive midfielder and only 21 years old. Future England international by the looks of it.

Signs for City for dat money, plays 15 times in 2 seasons. His stock majorly plummets as he's been sitting on the sidelines for so long and his potential has probably been stunted. He's become a forgotten man. He must have known he'd never get in the squad with the amount of class City have in midfield, yet still did chose to sign with them anyway.

Another example of what's wrong with the game, a young player selling his soul for money.

I think my friend is a little bitter. He has been posting these all over Facebook. He is a Liverpool fan.

He should have continued his development at Everton tbh. He'll probably leave, not on a free though, surely? City seem to be getting rid of all their English players - Rodwell, Lescott, Richards, Barry - but they need to keep some for the CL squad regulations. Let's not forget Scott Sinclair, left Swansea for Man City and in that time has only become notorious for dating that hideous Helen Flanagan.
