have you ever fired a gun before?

Postby Matteo » Apr 27, '14, 5:08 am

i never have but i was given the opportunity to do so once - he purchased a firearm illegally and said to me 'you wanna give it a try'. and i said 'sure man like where?' and he said 'on a farm'. so i said 'okay but what farm?' and he said any one, the closest one. we went to a farm and he asked me to shoot a sheep. i was like man are u crazy? that's somebody's sheep what the hell is wrong with you? i only met him one before that at some function but he was a psycho. i mean, that's so mean.

you guys ever fired a gun?

Yeah. My dad has a rifle. He used to go hunting a lot. He sometimes would let us shoot empty food cans in our back garden.

No but I did temporally lay one off for awhile.

I've been shooting since I was 10 or so, shot rifles, pistols, ARs.

Many times, all just for fun target shooting. I've shot an AR-15, a Glock .40, a 306 rifle, a .22 rifle, a few random .40 cal hand guns... I like target shooting. :) I think guns are ok to own if you are responsible enough to handle it. I think you should be required to take a course to own one... or at least pass a psych evaluation. Guns aren't the problem here in the U.S. It is our terrible mental health care system that is stigmatized and not covered enough by insurance. Our lives are so full and stressful these days it is ever more important to have mental health care.... that way the crazies don't snap.

Yep, shot a rifle when I was in the FCA (kind of like young adult scouts, but for army stuff); I was surprisingly good at the time. I doubt that's still true though - it was over a decade ago, and my sight's significantly deteriorated since then.

I wouldn't be particularly bothered doing it again though; I only found it ok, as fun times go.

I went clay pigeon shooting for a stag do, it was great fun. I'd never shot a gun before but it turned out I was a decent shot. Would love to do it again.

I've shot a few... 9 mm pistol, .22 pistol, .44 pistol, .22 rifle. That's it though, I believe. I'd like to try shooting a shotgun at some point. I guess an assault rifle would be cool but that might be a little too much power for me :lol

Ooo, I also did a police pistol course one day at work with an electronic gun. That was pretty fun.

No, but I've got a funny story about guns. We were on a 4th Grade field trip to the local FBI office, and we were in a room with all of these handguns, painted red to signify they were deactivated, except one. They were for testing and matching a bullet to a gun or whatever. So we were passing these guns around, seeing just how heavy they were and how hard it is to pull the trigger, when we hear a loud *BANG!*

We all turn to see this kid holding the one gun that wasn't painted red, just looking mortified. Luckily, it was unloaded, it just hadn't had the firing mechanism removed. After that, the FBI agent giving us the tour was just, "Okay, we're done in this room, let's go see some other thing!" and hurried us out.

To this day, that incident is why I call BS whenever I see a movie or a TV show where an unloaded gun goes *click*.

IDK, I've shot semi-auto weapons and when they run out of ammo it is definitely a "click".... perhaps that is just because it sounds very quiet compared to the previous shots you just fired but... yeah, click sounds right.

I am not sure what happened but after 16 years of shooting guns, I can assure you they do not "bang" when empty. They click. I guess it could have been a blank.

A handful of times at a range and at my friends house where he owns a good amount of property. Rifles and pistols, but I much prefer the pistols. I enjoy using revolvers.

I second this, a firearm will never go *BANG* or any other similar sound if its empty. Only a *click* sound will be heard. No I have witnessed a dummy round go bang, but that is just a caseing with no powder and only the primer live.
