Who you got this year?

Postby Everlong » Aug 11, '16, 2:04 pm

It's a little early yet, as we haven't even started preseason.

But if you had to pick one team to win it all, who you got this year?

The Browns, of course.

In reality, the Patriots.

I like the Bengals a lot. Patriots (obviously) and Steelers too, with the Broncos dependent on their defense being an all-time great unit again and even then.

However, I see the winner coming from the NFC and I have no idea who I'm supposed to pick from between the Packers, Seahawks, Panthers, and Cardinals. Seriously, that is a loaded top four. Packers are probably the least talented of the four (still really talented), but they have Aaron Godgers and a talented back end. Cardinals have an incredible roster - the best in the NFL in my opinion - but the quarterback I trust the least in Carson Palmer. Panthers and Seahawks are just really good at playing football, nothing more to it.

Gonna be awesome seeing those 4 teams duke it out this season. I think the Packers only play the Seahawks, but Panthers, Cardinals, and Seahawks all play each other. Probably the most excited I have been for a single conference in a long time.

Yeah I'd agree that the winner is in the NFC this year. About time the NFC picks things back up, too, after getting its ass kicked by the AFC for most of the last 15 years. There were some pretty week iterations of the conference for quite some time.

I like the Packers' chances mostly because of their depth and because they have the league's best player, but would I pick them to win it all? EEhhhhh, tough to say. I can't really pick AZ with Palmer at QB. He balled for most of the regular season last year but caved in the playoffs, and I can't say I trust him to play at that same regular season level this year. I also don't think Cam can be as big of a superhuman again as he was this year for Carolina, and the rest of that offense isn't at the caliber where it can pick up that kind of slack. The Seahawks are still a fantastic defense but I just don't know about that offense.

I dunno. Each team has some outstanding strengths and some glaring weaknesses. I think despite maybe not having the best roster of the four, the Packers don't have any weaknesses that are as obvious as the Panthers (offense not being up to Cam's standard), Cardinals (Palmer) or Seahawks (horrendous OL and generally week offense).

That being said, we'll find a way to fuck it up somehow :lol

I think you are underrating Carolina's offense with Benjamin back. Funchess turned it up in the second half of last season, which will allow Ginn to go back to being a #3. Olsen, Benjamin, Funchess, and Ginn is a good group of receivers, plus Stewart at RB and 3 Pro Bowl caliber interior lineman. That offense has a lot of potential barring injury.

It's kinda scary to me how obvious I think Championship weekend is to predict. The NFC to me should blatantly be Carolina vs the Packers. The Cardinals will do nothing, but fade at this point as Palmer gets older and the Seahawks' window to compete at a championship level has slammed shut. Teams built on defense always fade faster because too many guys want to get paid and that's what happened with the Seahawks.

As for the AFC, Patriots and Steelers seem like obvious choices.

Giants duhh.

But seriously, I got Carolina. Benjamin being back will be huge for the offense, and yhere isnt an AFC team I could see competing with them. Like you guys said, winner is definatley coming from the NFC.
