Discussion about the National Football League, and predictions, contests and games revolving around the NFL.

The main point for me is how pointless it was to begin with. The Patriots don't need any help defeating the Colts. They can easily do that fair and square.

No one is disputing that, you're missing the point. Cheating is cheating. Plus who is to say that they didn't do this to their balls against the Ravens (a much closer game).

if true it should be more notice of it out there but i guess its on the media to not include it

and now there's a report that they did change out the balls. so this looks like a moot story. sadly cant seem to find link to an article but it was on ticker on espn channels

You should punish every offender you catch. To my knowledge there isn't a coach or team that has been caught doing something like this that was let off without a punishment. You aren't going to catch every murderer, but does that mean we should start letting those we do catch go free?

Not at all, I meant it quite the contrary, actually; I want them to go after the other offenders more vigorously.

Adam Schefter on TV has said that the NFL's investigation has had an extremely difficult time of finding evidence against New England. Gotta think that they're not going to be doling out punishments after all.

What a shocker, the NFL cover up machine in full effect again. Just like the Ray Rice situation...

"So this happened, but through our exhaustive search we have found that we don't know how it happened, no one we talked to admitted to knowing it happened so clearly since no one we talked to would ever lie none of them are responsible for it happening. We'll just call it an act of God and sweep it under the rug like every other scandal we come across."
-- Basically what every NFL press release could read from now until eternity.

Or, you know, maybe everybody is completely overreacting and there's no real evidence to show that the patriots actually tampered with the balls?

I saw on TV yesterday that someone talked to a bunch of scientists and they all said that there was no natural cause (be it temperature, weather conditions or anything) that could have caused the balls to deflate on their own.

It happened. Unless someone comes up with a reasonable and satisfactory explanation for why and how it happened then yes it is a cover up or more accurately just sweeping it under the rug.

D'Qwell Jackson of the Colts is saying that any reports that he alerted authorities to ball pressure issues are completely false.

Then there's this:

"I recall them having a pressure gauge in the locker room, but most often they just squeezed the balls, turned them over in their hands a few times each, and inspected the laces. I don't recall them ever rejecting one of our balls,"

That from a former ball boy for the Bears.

The fact that this has blown up as huge as it has is a fucking joke. There's now 100 percent NO WAY that the Patriots should face any sort of punishment for this, this is a complete farce and I can't believe how much energy has been spent on it.

I don't have to prove it. The NFL themselves have already said/proven that 11 of the 12 Patriots balls were at 10.5 PSI instead of the regulated 12.5 PSI. It happened. Someone needs to explain how and why it happened.

This whole thing has gotten way off the rails. Even if the Pats did cheat (and they did), this isn't some major offense that needs some harsh punishment. With that said, I will laugh for days if they lose draft picks. Fuck the Patriots.

Belichick gave a press conference today. If you and everyone else in the world isn't satisfied by now and still think that it's a punishable offense, then I have no idea what could possibly be said to make you see reason in this topic.
