The original thread has well and truly died now despite my failed attempts to revive it. So I'm deciding to restart the thread from scratch seeing as how it was a good idea and I enjoy listening to music that other people would recommend on here. So I'll go first!

Nick Mulvey - Cucurucu

I like it for the most part. The faffing about at the beginning worried me. I was very prepared to hate it. But it kicked off at about 30 seconds in and I liked it after that. There wasn't much of a hook to it for me, but the melody was pleasant. Good background music.

I'll give it a 6.5/10

Never heard of Sunsets Sons. I like music like this once in a while that has a bit more upbeat and happier tune to it. Something that just kinda makes you wanna go out, say "fuck it" and have some fun once in a while.

6/10, while I enjoyed it, I don't think I can listen to it all the time.


This one by all means is not for all or most occasions but I find myself coming back to it quite often, for many years now.

6/10 I liked their song Home when it was making its rounds on the radio, but I never really heard from them again. This song was alright but didn't really tickle my fancy.

I started out nicely surprised by this, but then repetition-fatigue set in around halfway through... I'd still give it a 5/10 though, because I'm not where I should be when listening to this type of song (in a club, on a dancefloor, locked). I don't think I'd get bored of it in that scenario.

1/10. If I wanted to listen to Hotel California, I'd listen to Hotel California. Someone call up Ocean and tell him to think of his own chord progression. There are a lot of possibilities.

^Pretty good, that tends to be my kind of music lately. I've been really into the indie folk revival happening in the American music scene. This isn't as good as other stuff out there at the moment but I can definitely appreciate it. 7/10

[Locke]

^My wife loves Trampled By Turtles and overplays them a bit, but I rather enjoy them myself. Definitely an interesting new movement with bands like them, Punch Brothers, etc.. Dig it, brother! 8/10



I never understand wtf they're saying unless I read the lyrics, but fuck if I don't love that music

6/10 - I'm a big fan of Alt-J, they're from my neck of the woods so even if it was shit I'd have lied and said it was good anyway...which may or may not be what I'm doing right now, who knows? Not the best song they've done but not bad.
