Yeah while it's not the greatest title they could have picked, I don't find it to be too bad considering most of the marketing for the movie is surrounding the Hobbit name.

I disliked the name at first but it really grew on me. Also it's an allusion to a line in the book itself, and the word desolation as it relates to Smaug is used multiple times so it's actually kind of fitting.
