I only just heard about this and I'm already annoyed by all of those leaping to Depp's defense and claiming that she's only saying this because she's an attention whore or because she's looking for a pay day.

It seems pretty obvious that he did attack her. She's clearly banged up. There's apparently a witness. The court have already issued a restraining order. We have no reason to believe that he's innocent and that she's a liar. People just want to think that way because he's the famous one. Or for more sexist reasons.

My first thought when I heard this story was that people would likely jump to Depp's defence because he's more famous and because of the age difference.

I had heard that he has been becoming more erratic lately. He has always been a bit of a odd dude, but every recent interview I have seen him in, he has been even more so. That being said, it's no excuse. I have always been a fan of Johnny Depp and he has always come across as a cool guy. But you don't beat your wife. Not cool. Now, I don't know any of the facts, but I just knew people would automatically jump to his defense without knowing them either, just because of who he is.
