Amir Khan to face Canelo Saul Alvarez on May 7th for the WBC Middleweight title

Oh my.. this is a shock, no-one saw it coming! Incredibly brave by Khan to go up to that weight category and not have a tune up, go straight in for a big name. He'd vaguely talked about going up in weight in old interviews but never envisioned he'd actually do it. Kudos and rooting for him. Brook meanwhile, can't have many gripes as it's a big fight that all boxing fans will tune into.

It's funny as Hearn/Brook said Khan can always have the fight with Kell if he loses to Manny/Floyd. Now it seems he can still have the fight if he loses to another big name like Canelo, get the Brook fight and as noted previously because his image will have risen further on American and potentially UK channels (think Boxnation will take it but Sky must fancy getting in on the SBO action but it seems that'll be Eddie's call) that he will demand more money for the Brook battle.

Khan's got some balls to take the fight. There's no rehydration clause so Canelo will probably weigh a good stone heavier than Khan on fight night. I wouldn't be surprised if Khan gets KO'd when they touch gloves.
