Do You Think LeBron Would Leave Cleveland?

Postby SKS » Jun 17, '15, 3:41 pm

He can opt out of his contract to help the Cavs sign some free agents and then take another deal. But he also could opt out and then sign elsewhere like a dick. Do you want to see him leave Cleveland?

No way he leaves. Not again. Opt ou then resign? Maybe. But flat out bailing again? No chance.

I mean, stranger things have happened. I don't think anyone saw him signing back with Cleveland after the previous decision debacle. Would be something else. I think they might actually try to kill him.

If they had flamed out spectacularly and it was a gong show of a season, then maybe, and even then I doubt it. At least now they have the excuse that Irving and Love were both out. If both were healthy they would have had a better chance. Lebron can always draw free agents, and with those guys back, and the East being bad, they can easily get back next year.

I would find it absolutely hilarious if he did opt out and leave, but I highly doubt that it'll happen.

As much as he wants to win another championship (obviously), he's already won two. That was the driving factor behind him leaving initially, so I'm not sure why he would leave again. He loves Cleveland.

LeBron has played the villain already. He did not like that role, he did not fit that role. He's not a Kobe Bryant or an Isaiah Thomas who embraces that persona of, "I'm better than you, I know it, and I don't need your approval." He wants to be loved, he wants to be seen as this great conquering hero. If he leaves Cleveland again, not only will he be seen as a villain, but he'll be seen as a coward, and there is no way he's going to do that.

Cleveland, honestly, was kind of in a win-win-win scenario this whole playoffs. If they won it all, that's perfect. If they were at full strength and lost, well, Kyrie Irving and Kevin Love never made the playoffs before despite being All-Stars, so it could be chalked up to inexperience under this kind of pressure. The way it turned out, with those two injured, and them still taking the Finals to 6 games, this can be taken as having one hell of a foundation to build upon.

LeBron James is going to retire as a Cleveland Cavalier. He will not put on another uniform ever again.

Here's the problem with your little trolling scenario. Cleveland offers him really the only option where he can have both the best chance to make the Finals and win more championships AND be the highest paid player on his team. That's the whole point of the player option every year thing.

Crazy fact: Up until this season LeBron has never been the highest paid player on his team. He wants that every year now. So when the salary cap and player max goes up this year by a little bit and by a whole lot next year LeBron wants every last cent the Cavs can pay him.
