Edmund Tarverdyan shouldn't even be allowed to pretend to coach anyone. Had Rousey gone to Jackson's years ago, she'd arguably still be the champion right now. Edmund ruined her career by being a total yes man and letting her do whatever she wanted, which is why she still has laughably bad stand up after all this time.

It's Rousey's fault though. Everyone knows Glendale is a shit gym and told her to get out, her own mother begged her to, but she didn't listen. She stuck with Edmund even though he's a complete fraud and a worse coach than most amateurs. It's on her, and she deserves this for sticking by him just to prove the world wrong.

Rousey will be remembered as the Royce Gracie of women's MMA. She was ahead of the game when it began, but then the game quickly passed her by. Legit grappling skills but not much else, which was good enough to beat a few part-time yoga teachers and Crossfit mums until some actual competition came along.

Congrats to Nunes, a thoroughly deserved victory and it seems a new era of women's MMA has begun.

She went back in after a year against a tough opponent coupled with the aforementioned issues noted by Porky but she's either headed to Hollywood or WWE IMO after being beaten comprehensively two fights in a row.

Good. I like Nunez and her weird heel-face-heel-face quadruple turn post fight. Rousey doesn't want it anymore you can tell; when Conor lost he took it like a man (the way Cruz did) and literally demanded a rematch under the exact same conditions. Ronda fucked off for a year then came back because Dana begged her and threw 3 mill at her.

Also fuck Ronda for attempting to box with another superior striker. She deserved the L for her total stupidity which admittedly is her coach's fault but ultimately her own for keeping with him.

I'm not that interested in MMA, but I follow some of the major headlines because so many outlets that cover wrestling feel obliged to cover MMA also. For those of you who watch regularly, I'm interested in your opinion on what this result means for UFC.

Does this hurt Ronda's ability to draw in the future? Have the women who have beaten her gained enough popularity to off-set people losing interest in Rousey? Are people excited about the division now that it appears more competitive, or will people stop buying shows to see the women now that their biggest star is on the decline?

I'm not the biggest follower of MMA, but as has been seen in other sports (namely Tiger Woods' fall from grace in golf), there's some things that are pretty easy to project. Rousey's draw power has taken a serious hit and will impact the women's division for a while, but long term the division will be better off with numerous strong contenders.

Also, when it comes to Rousey I really wouldn't be surprised to see her drop out of MMA altogether and do acting and some WWE appearances. After being dominated twice in a row I'm not even sure what her next UFC fight would be, it's certainly not a title fight.

Got hammered and unlike other people who suffered a loss, refused to do media and fucked off having picked up 3m whilst her opponent, the champion, got 100k.

She was lauded at her leak but there seems to be a real unlikeable side to her.

Ronda was always an asshole but nobody cared when she was destroying girls inside 30 seconds because people like winners. Now she's been badly beaten twice nobody has a reason to care about her anymore; she'll always be the pioneer of Women's MMA but but alienating herself from the media in fight week backfired, she went all in and lost hard.

She'll branch out into acting but nothing major/good. I wouldn't expect to see her in WWE any time soon either now her stock has fallen so dramatically. Believe the McMahon's don't like her now she's not invincible. I expect her to fight again in a few years time when she wants the payday.

As for the bantamweight division it took a real hit right away because the ladies played hot potato with the belt for a while. There's not enough marketable girls in the divisIon outside of Ronda. I guess Nunes is somewhat of a draw now but she's a product of circumstance.

It hurts her drawing power, absolutely. A huge part of her popularity was because she drew casual fans in who thought she was an invincible destruction machine. The UFC hyped her up as a "once in human history athlete" and she was voted as a more dominant female athlete than the likes of Serena Williams, but now she's looked like an amateur in her past two fights she won't have that mystique and intrigue anymore.

Neither Nunes or Holm were hyped up as contenders by the UFC, so they haven't really gained much popularity by beating her. It's too early to say for Nunes to be honest, but the promo videos in the leadup to the fight were 95% Rousey, 5% Nunes - if that. I'm not exaggerating, they really didn't give a shit about Nunes and just prayed for Rousey to win. Rousey was given some real special treatment in the leadup to this fight.

As for people being more excited about the division, probably not. The division is definitely stronger than ever before now in terms of talent, but not star power. Two of Rousey's best wins were against McMann and Correia, a stay-at-home mum who doesn't train at gyms and does it over 1-2-1 Skype calls instead (McMann) and a recenty-retired accountant who got into MMA only two years beforehand to try and lose weight (Correia). Now some actual top contenders are coming through at both women's bantamweight and strawweight, whom are much better than the likes Rousey was fighting.

The belt has been passed around since Rousey lost it back in November 2015 which has hurt the star power of some of the top contenders, too - neither Holm nor Tate successfully defended it, now Holm has left the division and Tate has retired. If Nunes convincingly beats a whole bunch of contenders it may bring some excitement and drawing power back to the division.
