Not going to make it any further without falling to sleep, leaving the last 30 overs where I fully expect us to have you all out.

Good finish to the day for what was looking terrible for the Aussies. Haddin and Johnson finding some form - ill take 8/278! Australia's tail end carrying us again!

Broad responds in emphatic style.

Australia's top order failing again and leaving the tail to rescue them. They need to get another hundred runs minimum to help their bowlers but I only see Cook getting a big score to end his bad run of scores with the bat.

Well bowled Stuart Broad. I thought Anderson bowled just as well without getting the spoils.

I'm at work now listening to day two on the radio. Hoping Haddin can get a well deserved century then have our quicks take a few early wickets.

Shockingly cheap wicket to give away from Trott. No idea why he decided to play that at all, right before lunch too, bollocks.

On ya bike KP! Huge wicket for Australia. If we can get Bell sooner than later we will be in good shape.

On a side note, Carberry is impressive. He also looks like Wesley Snipes.

Suddenly starting to get rather nervous... I wish we had someone like Eoin Morgan in the squad who is capable of anything on his day. I know he's mainly a 1 day 20/20 type guy but my god can he play!

What an exceptional piece of fast bowling by Johnson.

As I'm typing another goes! And it's Bell. You beauty.

I've always wondered about Morgan. I've liked what I've seen of him, he has performed at test level in the past hasn't he? Surely he's better than Bairstow? He's a bum I tell ya. Horrible defensive technique.

up and down really, I think he is consider to much of a risk taker for a test match, but his form is no different from any other player.

Oh, England.. What a horrific collapse. No idea why Joe Root played that shot when it was going so wide. Just needed to let himself settle down and try quieten the crowd.

Also, was it Johnson or Lyon who's foot was over the line for Swann's wicket? He definitely would've gone on to get a century otherwise!

Man I always think you can't get more weird and then you say something else :lol

The image of Viazon and his equally odd mates all sat outside the supermarket eating chicken together in the car is too much :lol

Impressive from Johnson. The time away he's had seems to have helped him.

Australia in a surprisingly excellent position.

Another good day for Australia. Hopefully we can take the last 8 wickets tomorrow. I'm expecting the remaining English batsman to put in a fighting performance. You feel it's paramount they do this to at least take the match into day 5.

Emphatic victory. Exactly what Australia needed to kick off the series. It will be interesting to see how The Poms go about bouncing back in Adelaide next week.

Surely Ian Bell has to bat at number three for a start. By far the most in form batsman in the team. They can't afford to have him coming in 3 down for not many. Sure, he's great at resurrecting an innings, but prevention is better than a cure.

Tremlett was completely toothless in the Gabba test. He bowled tight enough, just lacked the venom necessary to succeed on Australian pitches.

As for the Aussies...Smith, Bailey and Watson need runs. Especially Watson. Hopefully they come in Adelaide. I'd also like to see Rogers be a bit more aggressive and look to turn the strike over a bit more.

Apparently Clarke is getting fined for his sledging during the match. Telling Anderson 'Get ready for a broken f#cking arm"

That was awesome. It's great to see Australia with their tails up.
Sledging is a part of the game, particularly between these two sides. If he gets fined it's an absolute disgrace.

^^^ I think the issue is that is was played live on tv. Otherwise it would have been fine, but the stump microphone picked it up and played it.

Buy yeah, sledging is awesome in cricket. One of my favourites was:

James Ormond came out to bat in a match with Australia. Mark Waugh, at slip, let rip: "What are you doing out here? You're too shit to play for England!" Ormond replied: "Maybe so, but at least I'm the best player in my family".

Sad to wake up to hear Trott's return for a stress related illness. I guess you could say the verdict that it has been long-term goes back to the summer's series where he didn't perform but hope he recovers. Best to take him out of the limelight.

Sadly, for David Warner, his comments don't look particularly good now but who was to know? His banter was abit disrespectful in the sense of saying it publically and also the grumpy Victor Meldrew that is Bob Willis who said Trott should be dropped for the next Test but he has a habit of being a grumpy dick.

On the fine of Clarke, deserved only because as a captain, I expect abit more better sledging than threatening to give an opponent a broken arm. Not really what you expect or want to see from a captain and whose words, actions are watched by alot of people.

But good to see the Ashes series hot up, I ain't a fan of this "nicey, matey" culture - love a tough, hard contest with no niceties.
