Ronda Rousey takes shot at Mayweather

Postby The Legend » May 19, '15, 7:23 am

http://www.accesshollywood.com/ronda-rousey-jabs-floyd-mayweather-wed-only-fight-if-we-ended-up-dating_article_107794

She was doing promotional work for the Entourage movie - which apparently she's in - and the interviewer asked her "Floyd's undefeated, you're undefeated, any chance we'll ever see you two fight?"

She answered back that the only way they'd end up fighting is if they started dating. That's a great response.

Sounds like someone is jealous their paycheck isn't as fat as Mayweather's.

I hate it when people say this about boxers and MMA fighters.

Boxing is only one aspect of MMA. It's like telling a triathlete and a swimmer to compete against each other, because they're both really good at swimming. The triathlete would school the swimmer when running or cycling, and the swimmer would almost certainly school the triathlete in the water, as that's their specialist area.

There was a ton of Rousey vs Mayweather articles lately. People were actually serious about them fighting.

Yeah, this was an Entertainment Tonight reporter. They weren't serious about it at all or really put that much thought into it. Beyond that Floyd's a guy and Rousey's a woman. There's sports where women could on some level compete with men, but combat sports isn't really one of them.

That doesn't make Rousey commendable for talking about Mayweather's domestic violence issues in a joking manner.

She made an unnecessary comment that deserved the ludicrous response I gave it.

I think it is sad that media outlets have to constantly bring up Mayweather's domestic violence past to draw readers/viewers, but at least I understand it from their point of view. Rousey made a joke out of it, and not a very clever one at that. There was just no reason for her to throw a shot to that extent at Mayweather.

Not that I expect anyone/everyone to see it that way. People hate Mayweather and rightfully so, I get it. However, Rousey should not be praised for what she said and I would hardly call it a great response. I don't think Rousey meant to be disrespectful in regards to domestic violence with her comment (and I don't have an issue with it - I laugh at a lot of stuff that I probably shouldn't laugh at), but it can certainly be taken that away.

TBH, it only seems to be brought up when he's in a big fight that captures major attention. He's had a few fights since being out of prison yet it was only when he fought Pacquiao that that conviction got brought up. This idea that fans were going to ignore the fight because of his past was too ambitious and was never going to happen.
