Advertising the forum?

Postby Enygma » Oct 09, '13, 3:40 pm

How are we planning on advertising the forum once we are off the starting block? I have a twitter and I'm sure a few more on here do, so we could always tweet "Come here blah blah blah"

Social media looks like the best bet. So Facebook, Twitter etc. We'd really need a hook to encourage people to come to the site and sign up. Thinks like posting links to threads to encourage discussion, competitions (e.g. like our page and sign up to the site to be in with a chance to win a

The problem with advertising this site is.... what is this site?? :lol

With the old site it was a wrestling forum and thus it could be advertised to wrestling fans as just that. With this site, we still have wrestling forums more out of continuity than anything, and many of the people who came over weren't interested in that section anymore anyway. So then what is this site? Realistically, it's just random shit that our WWE Club community that likes each other will mess around in :P

This is one of the issues that we have to come to grips with before we can expect this place to see any growth.

We need to determine what are goals are. If we're content just to stay this same group of people then great, but if we want growth and new people coming in we need to give ourselves one solidified purpose.

On the one hand, there aren't as many people here who watch WWE as there used to be. On the other hand, we all DID come from a WWE forum. Is that enough of a commonality to make this a wrestling-focused site, or do we turn our attentions to something else?

I think it may be a good idea to become more sports based. Have categories for each major sport including one for wrestling. Also PCW.

I agree, it should be a sports based forum. We can keep the wrestling part, but have it based on just sports in general.

Sports is way too broad. You won't get any new members for a "sports forum".

Exactly. And then we can't really focus on individual sports either, because we already have such a diverse group here. If we'd focus on the NFL we'd completely alienate our European contingent, and if we'd focus on soccer then a lot of the Americans would move on.

I think that we should push this as a great place to talk sports with roundtables/pick ems/fantasy leaguese/live chats, but our overarching theme needs to be something different.

At this point, if we're going to have one, wrestling is probably our best bet.

I think we should gather ourselves for the next month or so, sort out the site, and then see where to go from there. It's far too early to discuss permanent moves when we've barely established ourselves here yet.

Yeah, absolutely. For now, it's great just to have this community together.
