Have you ever been in a car accident?

Luckily I haven't, but since I've been riding my bike to work I've had a couple of close calls.

On my way back from work tonight I almost got a 'left hook', where a driver turns left without checking their mirrors and turns into you. For you guys who drive on the right hand side of the road, this would be a right hook. I slammed my brakes, as did he, but then proceeded to call me various things and sped off. I've had a few scary moments on my bike, but this was the closest I've been to getting hit.

I rarely drive now but I used to quite a lot. On the M6 once I was driving next to an Alfa Romeo full of twats who were weaving in and out of traffic like it wasn't there. They almost hit me quite a few times as they drifted across lanes like they were in GTA. It was a busy motorway and how they didn't hit someone is beyond me. I braced for impact on a couple of occasions. It was the most dangerous driving I've ever seen.

Fortunately I have not. My wife has caused a couple in her life time though, including t-boning a vehicle prettttty bad just a few months after she first got her license when she was a teenager.

Needless to say I do most of the driving

Probably shouldn't read this thread considering my fragile confidence relating to driving and considering I'm taking tentative thoughts on getting behind the wheel after not driving for three years but only accidents I had when I did drive previously were me scraping the front wall after botching up a reverse out of the driveway! Luckily, not as scary as the OP.

Only as a kid, and it was in slow moving traffic so it just felt like a bump so no physical damage done to myself. My parents car was written off though.

I've had the odd scrape, usually just cosmetic damage. Actually one time back when I had my first car I pulled up onto my parents driveway after work and scraped/dented the entire left side of the car. The wing mirror went and I scraped the moulding clean off. My excuse for this was that I was really desperate for the toilet

Unfortunately yes. There's only one that sticks in my mind as being major and I got a little teddy bear for my troubles as a kid. #GoodButBadTimes
