Your username backstory

Just thought it would be fun to find out why some peoples usernames are what they are. Mine is easy, Settee is my last name.

I was in a TF2 match a few years ago and some dude was called Slightly Batman. The explanation on why he was only slightly Batman was that he wasn't wearing any pants. At the time I wasn't wearing any pants so I became SlightlyJames!

Caving: I am a caver by hobby and by career. I am a cave geologist (I do geochemistry work on stalagmites).

Siberians: I have two siberian huskies, one 12 years old (on Saturday is her 12th birthday, actually), and one that is 10.5 months old. :) They are the best.

I honestly don't even know. I was like 12 when I signed up so the name 'stonerprophet19' is without question the cringiest fucking thing ever and I must have plagiarised it from somewhere surely. It was eventually shortened to prophet to take away some of my shame.

QUESTION @CavingSiberian: I will someday be getting at least one dog. I've always heard that huskies are difficult to train. Fact or fiction?

As for my user name, I wanted to change my name eventually after starting the new site considering I didn't watch WWE any more, so Everlong is my favorite Foo Fighters song.

My old username was NEDM, a reference to an old YTMND meme. Now, it's just my name. Ali, pronounced like the boxer.

Re: Your username backstory

Postby Ace » Jun 10, '14, 1:36 am

Posted this in a PCW thread that was similar & it works out since my character's name is my username. So basically...

Ace is a name given to me by an aunt of mine who died of cancer about 7 years ago.

I was having a bad day & decided to go visit her. She told me not to be discouraged because I'm awesome :crybaby

She told me, "People who are good at many things are called Jack of All Trades, but you're better than a Jack. You're the Ace of All Trade because sometimes in cards Ace's are higher than Jacks." :crybaby

That was the last conversation I ever had with her so Ace has been my nickname ever since. The only problem is that the name never really stuck with anyone. It's almost like a self-proclaimed nickname. I use it as a username for everything I sign into. Any character created in a game or a simulated world (PCW included) by me is named Ace

:crybaby

Postby Georgerv » Jun 10, '14, 3:46 am

Well my name is George Harvey, Harvey when pronounced in a lower class southern (England) way sounds like RV.

Plus there are very few sites it's already taken on which is grand. Except for some RV salesmen and camping sites, what seems like a fetish site and a Russian dating site.

I was going through a phase of liking Foley about the time I joined the club. I thought about changing it when the move happened but figured I actually quite liked the name.

Nickname was Dazzle in school, cause I'm amazing. Always got shortened to Daz. Kinda stuck. At 23 it doesn't quite hold the same appeal it did at 15, and I've learnt to tolerate my actual name, so most people just call me Dale.

Much like you, Hanley is my last name. I added the exclamation mark first on an old forum I was signed up on where my brothers were members too. So the exclamation mark was there to show that I was the important one. :P After that I just liked the look of it and I've used it ever since.
