Anyone else unemployed?

Postby AkydefGoldberg » Oct 23, '13, 9:51 am

I've been unemployed since the end of last year when I left a call centre job that had used up my last drips of patience. Even moving part-time didn't help.

Since then I worked temporarily at a newspaper which turned out to be one waste of time and left me with a massive financial hole in my pocket and been applying since.

Our Jobcentre here is very lax on helping us but quick to clamp down for a minor infringement. I'm currently trying to push for volunteering in an admin position to help me in work and just try and develop some contacts.

Other than that, I'm lazying (which ain't bad) at home or going out with friends. I'd like a job with longevity as I'm not very patient with work.

Anyone else out of work atm?

I've been unemployed since the end of last month when my contract expired at work.

I have been temporarily since 27th of Sept. I broke my wrist in a car wreck. It's boring as hell.

I had a small summer job, but I'm back at college so I'm not currently employed. Money would be nice though.

I've been unemployed by choice since July, I didn't return to work after maternity leave and now i'm a stay at home mum for the foreseeable future. I guess that is kind of my 'job' now. For various reasons, I didn't enjoy my previous job, they were making me do a tonne of over time pre-baby (if I said I couldn't do a shift outside of my contracted hours for what ever reason they'd kick up a stink about it) and there were no guarantee's that they would be able to give me and stick to the hours that would suit me and my new family. The main factor, however was the fact that it wouldn't be worthwhile for me to return to work. On my wage, childcare costs would have exceeded my monthly pay check. As is the situation with many parents in this country.

I don't really know what the next step will be when my kid/any future kids are older. I've had a few jobs in the past and haven't really enjoyed any of them. I'm thinking about going to college to give myself more opportunities to find a job I actually enjoy or can at least tolerate.

Well, I quit my job to work strictly on my studies, despite having a good hourly rate of $22 and $30 on a Sunday. I actually don't regret it either, despite having no adequate income at the moment.

But yeah, studying full time sort of feels like a job in some ways.

I couldn't even fathom not having a job. I wouldn't know what I would do. I lost my job last year and didn't know how I was gonna cope. Luckily it only took me a couple of weeks to find a new job but my bank balance was really low before I did.

No, but as far as the IRS knows I haven't worked a full time job or been on the books since 2005.
