Eh, I just dislike popes in general.
I actually don't like many of his opinions though. He took some jabs at feminists in a recent interview too, which I didn't appreciate.
He has a good reputation at the moment, because he compares favourably with Benedict, but he probably still has the same bigoted beliefs that his predecessors had. From the couple of interviews of his that I've read, you can tell that he is very much a pope that will talk about trying to include everyone in the church, but at the same time he won't do anything to update any of the church's backwards social beliefs or do anything to make people feel welcome generally. I guess I just resent anyone in a position to create real change who fails to do so.
Most importantly though, I'm a Catholic. Because I was baptized, not because I want to be. And there was briefly a facility in Ireland for people to leave the church (you printed out a document and got it signed at your local parish), but they enacted new legislation since basically banning that from happening. So myself and thousands of other Catholics are not allowed to leave the organisation, despite wanting nothing got to do with it.
So if I did punch the pope, I think that might be a good way to get myself excommunicated.
