Dialect quiz

Postby The Legend » Feb 05, '14, 7:23 pm

So I found this fun little dialect quiz that will take answers of how you pronounce things or what you call things and then show you the three most likely cities that you are from or live in. It's interesting, even if it tries to keep telling me I'm from eastern Nebraska..,

http://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2013/12/20/sunday-review/dialect-quiz-map.html?_r=0

Sorry to our British pals because this is strictly a US map, but take the quiz anyways and see where you would fit into America.

British, took it, apparently I'd do well dialect wise in Yonkers. I wouldn't have guessed that.

The fucking thing was dead on within 150 miles of where I live right now, all top 3 cities in fact.

The fucked up thing, it based the choice off of one answer only and that was "We have no name for them" when defeating to a drive threw liquor store

I got the area of America the encompasses Tulsa, Oklahoma City and Garland, Texas. From what I know of that area of the USA I think it's spot on. I get a lot of flack for how I talk from everyone I know so I'm glad to know where my real brethren are.

My top 2 are Irving and Plano, both of which are in DFW, and the other one is Montgomery, Alabama, so I guess they figured me out pretty well.

Says I'm from Iowa or Kansas, which is close, I'm from Missouri which I guess is a good "mix" of the two.
