I saw that, it was absolutely hilarious. Question Time is like Jeremy Kyle for the middle classes.

Blue haired shouty woman totally stole the show for me.

Top banter.

Bit random but throwing it out there for some advice..

Does anyone know how Fathers 4 Justice group might be able to help a father in seeing his kids?

Elder sibling is starting the arduous process of trying to see his kids - who he hasn't seen in months - and may go down the route, due to not having the finances to pay legal fees, to represent himself in the battle to see his kids. Personally, think it might be too much for him so thought whether F4J might be able to offer advice?

Are there any organisations besides CAB that might be able to offer him advice?

Fucking snow. How I haven't slipped and broken my leg is a miracle. Sure I come across as a wimp, walking slowly over the bits of concrete not slithered in ice.

Awesome, I'll be watching purely for him.

Also, there's an ebola case in Glasgow - can you confirm whether it's you?

Re: British thread

Postby AkydefGoldberg » Jan 13, '15, 2:46 pm

I've received a letter saying I had underpaid tax in years 12/13 and 13/14 (the amount owed is £77 after deductions were made)

I'll try to give a quick idea of my employment trail if that helps:

2012 - Working until December 2012. Signed on after that point
2013 - I signed off JSA as I took a position which ultimately was a [problem] job (employers didn't pay me and due to their dubious history, doubt that they forwarded any tax for me)
2013 - Around June time I went on JSA again
2014 - In February, I got full time employment and have been in this job since.

Now the "employer" who didn't pay me I doubt caused the issue as someone else who experienced the same, i.e. not being paid, had no problems with tax underpayment after leaving.

It might be my new employers but I'm thinking of sending a letter to HMRC asking for an explanation but will this explanation provide an insight as to who is responsible or will it be generic?

Any advice appreciated.

I'm not certain of the process but I would imagine if the fault wasn't your own they'd have to offer some insight as to when and how it happened.

Yeah I'd hope so but don't want them to send out some generic letter, which I fear they might do, thus leaving me in no clearer position.

Misread the letters (are abit gobble-de-gook) and assumed the underpayment was from my side and I was awaiting information for repayment but got a cheque through for the amount which clarified everything. Thanks for your help

Where's the nicest place you've been in the UK?

Of all the places I've visited, the top three:
Bath
Bristol
Isle of Wight

I had a temporary job on the IOW last year and it's a lovely place, some great scenery and plenty of nice pubs and restaurants over there. I'm not sure whether I could live there because it was expensive as fuck and it didn't look like there was too much for young people to do, but it was alright staying there for a couple of weeks. Definitely one of the nicer places I've been to, particularly Shanklin and Sandown. Shout out to Ryde as well for a decent day out.

Bristol is great, I've been there a couple of times. Reminds me of London in many ways but not as busy and with fewer hipsters. There's plenty of stuff to do as well. Bristol Zoo in particular is awesome, also if you ever find yourself there make sure you visit the planetarium. I'm not even a big science nerd but it was great.

Bath has some great architecture and history. It would be a lovely place to live, but like the IOW it's a bit expensive there. Also like the IOW, there's some great pubs there. I wouldn't mind living there in future.

Fucking "road tax", man. Since I've started cycling, people have been going on at me about how cyclists should pay road tax.

Road tax doesn't exist. It hasn't existed since 1937. Motorists don't pay for roads, taxpayers pay for roads - whether they're pedestrians, cyclists, motorists, whatever. Motorists pay vehicle tax, which is based on engine size, fuel type and CO2 emissions. As a cyclist, you can charge me vehicle tax all you want - I don't have an engine, I don't use any fuel and my vehicle doesn't produce any CO2. So you'd raise a grand total of £0.00.

What is so difficult to understand about this? :angrysanta

Also there was a show on ITV tonight called 'You're Back In The Room' hosted by Phillip Schofield. The premise was they had a hypnotist put 5 people under and have them do stupid shit whilst they were trying to complete a challenge as a group. It was without question the biggest crock of shite I've ever had the displeasure to witness - it had literally no redeeming qualities, at least Amazing Greys was a laugh to watch and tear apart, this was just something else.

It was clear the contestants were actors, the fact that they were fucking shit actors made it clear. I just can't even fathom it, it was garbage on a next level. I was looking at my folks pleading with them to tell me they know how bad it was only to be hit with the "it's just a bit of fun" card, making me look like a misery because I couldn't stomach it. Legit pissed that they enjoyed it. We all have opinions and I respect that but their opinion was fucking stupid and they need to share MY opinion or else I don't know how I can cope. #murica
