Do you stick to the speed limit?

Postby HardcoreLegend » Jul 09, '14, 3:42 am

How good are you at obeying the speed limits?

The other day I was driving down the motorway with my music blaring, I was singing along at the top of my lungs and when I looked down at the speedometer I realised I was going 100MPH when the speed limit is 70MPH. It wasn't intentional so I slowed down straight away.

Aside from that incident, I would say the majority of the time I don't stick to the limits. It's always intentional though. If I know there is a stretch of road where there are no hazards and the limit has dropped down to 30MPH then I'll probably do a little bit more.

No I don't but I know the areas where I should slow down though, be it because of a school or speed cameras.

I usually do because most of the time my daughters in the car with me and I'm more concerned with keeping her safe than getting anywhere fast.

How ever I do slightly exceed the speed limit occasionally if there are no kids in the car, I never usually go more than 10mph over though and never near schools or anything like that.

I never go more then ten over. But usually I stick to about five over. To be honest the idea of going 100mph scares me :lol I'm with @Twister here, usually I have my kids with me and it isn't worth getting them hurt. Or even getting them scared because we got pulled over. Plus I am broke. I can't afford a ticket.

In all honesty, I rarely speed due to the amount of traffic there is on the roads around here.

I'm always careful when going past a school. Hitting a kid petrifies me, it's my worst nightmare.

I usually stick to the speed limit, unless I'm on an empty highway. My town is crawling with cops, so I don't like to risk things. :lol

Depends on the road. If its a big clear road and I have a good visual of everything around me, then I will go above the limit. Not too much. Maybe at 10 mph over at most. If I am on a tight and busy road and I can't tell when or where anyone is gonna come out, then I will make sure to do the limit.

However, if I know there is a speed camera then I will of course always do the limit.

The rule of driving on the highway in America: "Nine and you're fine, ten and you're mine." Basically as soon as you start going double digits over the speed limit, you're going to get pulled over if you pass a cop. So when I'm driving on the freeway, I set the cruise control at 8 or 9 over the speed limit, usually.

In town I'll drive four or five over whatever the speed limit is in most situations.

In other towns/cities/states? Usually, yeah.

But if I am in the Raleigh/Wake Forest/Knightdale area in NC, I usually just go with the flow of traffic or however the wind takes me. It takes a real moron to get pulled over down here.

In work vehicle, always. Personal vehicle, depends on if I am running late, in a bad mood, tired and just want to get home and other factors but I generally stay within 5mph

Yeah like most of you have said already, I usually only go about 10 over max.

On the highway I'll usually go 15 over max.

I stick to the speed. Cops in my area will nail you for anything. Hell I even had a cop pull me over asking if I was lost :angry4

I used to be a speed demon. I have a lead foot. Now that I no longer own my Dodge Stealth and I have a Jeep I don't speed most of the time for several reasons.

One- my gas mileage isn't too impressive and it peaks around 55-60 mph. Any faster than that and I am just wasting fuel.
Two- I have a soft top. It is loud and I don't have the money to install new speakers/system. If I go too fast I can't hear my tunes.
Three- My speedometer is a bit off... as in if the gauge says I am going 70 mph I am actually going 60 mph. It has been like that since I bought it in 2007 and I have never gone to the trouble of fixing it. I don't really care.
Four- It's a Jeep, not a sports car. I drive off-road a lot... and aside from you being unable to drive fast off-road there is no speed limit ;)
Five- I don't have cruise control.
