Body Art

Postby Kein » May 21, '14, 12:46 pm

A while back I remember Tim making a thread about if anyone on here had tattoos and if they regret them. I was kind of surprised how many people on here do in fact have tattoos, and it was kinda cool to hear their experiences with it. This is obviously of the same topic, but a lil more too.

I was just wondering what peoples opinions are of tattoos, or body art such as piercings and whatever. Everyone has their line of what is okay in moderation or what is excessive and whatnot. What do you find acceptable, what is going to far? Any plans for any kind of body art in the future for yourselves?

All I can think of for body art is tattoos and piercings but if you guys think of more bring them to light too.

I personally would never get any tattoos or piercings for several reasons:

1) I think they'd look ridiculous on me.
2) I can't think of any tattoo that I'd want on me permanently
3) I just don't want any :lol

However I have no problem with other people getting them. I do think there's a definite line where it goes overboard. For example, I'm not really a big fan of big sleeve tattoos or tattoos that take up a person's full back or any face/neck tattoos. Smaller is better IMO.

In terms of piercings, the more traditional ones are cool (ears, belly button, small nose studs) but huge rings or piercings in really weird places tend to freak me out a bit :lol Also, gauges are weird -- I don't understand why people would want to stretch out their ears/other parts like that.

So yeah, those are my thoughts anyway.

I seen a guy that had gauges in his cheeks, his fucking cheeks! You could easily shove a hot dog threw the gauge they where that big, but hey, maybe a hotdog threw the cheek was the route he was taking :D

I personally will never get any body art what so ever. I think it is disgusting and make a person look like a thug or part of a gang. Plus most work places make you cover up body art at while working since it not professional. I totally agree, who would want to wear a long sleeve shirt in the summer time when it so hot. My work place forces this one guy to do that and can't blame them for it too.

I like tattoos a lot, I think they can be very creative and look very nice. I am from Seattle area, so we (for better or worse) are extremely casual when it comes to business and formality. I see more and more places that allow people to show their tattoos and have piercings. Not all places allow it obviously but it's around.

I think tattoos and piercings like everything is good in moderation but too much becomes just too much. A couple ear piercings? Cool. The entire ear loaded with piercings? That's a bit much hahahha.

Tattoos are a little harder to say because its easy to cover a lot of it too, so some people can have full body tattoo but with the way they dress it can still look moderate.

Fashionably I think it's also like hairstyles, some people can pull it off real well and some have a harder time. Tattoos also require care and touch ups, and when someone takes care of theirs and doesn't let it turn to a faded mess shows they care about the image. I personally won't get one unless it has meaning, some people just get something cause it looks cool. I don't see myself getting one for cool points, but I don't have anything against it if someone else does it. To each their own right?

Considering each one of those 22 visible piercings are in the neighborhood of $60-$100 (depending on quality of hardware and artist) I would hope they are permanent.

I think it looks bitchin but I also think it could cause some issues in the bedroom, especially if you were drunk

It could cause so many issues! I get worried about piercings tearing out so I tend to shy away from them for that reason alone.

It actually takes alot to rip a piercing out if its done right and healed properly, they do tear easy though and it hurts like hell

Not to intrude on your discussion but when I think of body art I think of Prince Devitt (rumored to be signing with WWE soon!)

I have seen some people do cosplays for conventions that dress as Venom like this. Pretty creative! I dig it.

I like tattoos if they're done well, but I think that about half the ones I see are a bit shite - generic, inelegant drawings don't look any better just because they're bent around your arm.

Atypical piercings can be very cool - a friend of mine used to have her suprasternal notch pierced (the space between your collar bones), and it looked great.

I would never have anything other than my ears pierced though, because a stud ripped almost entirely through my lobe when I was a pre-teen. Luckily, I was young enough that it healed up, and I was able to get them pierced again years later. Hooray! :D

It did leave me with some paranoia, however.

I have 1 tattoo at the moment and I do stress at the moment. I have loved tattoos since childhood; I have spent most of my life coming up with concepts get tattooed on me. I am a big proprietor of self-expression so it just sort of makes sense to me. I do however have a different standard for what I would do to myself and what I am okay with others having done to themselves. I, for instance, wouldn't want a gauge through my cheek but I can see the desire to want to be different by doing so. I had my nose pierced when I was 15 and just took it out this past fall do to work and I must say I miss having that unique quality to my face.

Tattoos, yes
Piercings, yes

Tastefully done, a must. I don't criticize people for quantity's or design but i will not hesitate to tell someone that their tat looks like a 5 year old did it with a prison gun.
