Wow. This is an odd one for several reasons:
1. They fired him at 10 PM on a Wednesday, several days after the season already ended. What were they waiting for?
2. They were showing big signs of progress this year, and Jameis Winston appears to be better than a lot of us expected he would be. With the arrow pointing up, and having made obvious improvements over last year, why would you fire your coach now, especially when the players seem loyal to him? Lavonte David in particular lost his shit over this on Twitter before deleting his posts.
Some people on reddit are speculating that they fired Lovie so they could retain their OC and promote him to head coach, because he's a hot HC candidate for other teams. But man, this is definitely the most head-scratching firing so far, and it's up there in terms of confusing decisions with the Colts keeping Pagano and Grigson and the Chargers keeping McCoy.
