NFL Picks Season. By now, most of you should know how this works. But for those of you noobs who are looking to get involved this year, here's what happens:
Every week, I'll post up the week's games and the point spreads for each. You will pick the winners for all of the games, getting a point for each correct answer and two points for a correct upset. You can pick as many upsets as you want, but will only get up to two bonus points. For our purposes, an upset is considered as being an underdog in the official Vegas point spread beating the favored team. You get a positive point (or two) for a correct choice and a negative point for an incorrect choice. Therefore, after a week of 16 games, the best score you could possibly get is 18-0.
While you aren't required to give reasons for picks or scores for the games, for the purposes of discussion it is highly encouraged.
I'll track the season-long percentages of all participants. However, you cannot miss any more than three weeks worth of predictions before you are discounted from the final tally. Point rewards will change come playoff time, and I'll go over those changes at that time.
Additionally, you have the chance to earn points for pre-season prediction categories. These predictions are not required, but can only help you. You do not get negative points for incorrect predictions. Those predictions can be made in this thread.
Here are the categories for season-long predictions:
SUPER BOWL CHAMPION (15 points) CONFERENCE CHAMPIONS (1 from AFC, 1 from NFC, 7 points each) DIVISION CHAMPIONS (4 from each conference, 4 points each) PLAYOFF TEAMS (6 from each conference, 2 points each) MOST VALUABLE PLAYER (5 points)
If you have any questions, please feel free to let me know. For most of you this should be old hat, we've been doing this for years. Unfortunately I only have record of champions since 2009-2010.
PAST CHAMPIONS: 2009-2010: SKS 2010-2011: Everlong 2011-2012: Everlong 2012-2013: JDD 2013-2014: Everlong (71.57%)
That does it. Get your season-long predictions in now, and I'll add them to this thread. I will also track season-long progress here. Note that you can edit your season predictions at any time, but I will no longer accept submissions after kickoff of the first game of week one.

It wouldn't surprise me if the NFC won the Super Bowl again this year, but the problem I have is there's about five teams I could see winning the NFC this year. The Broncos are a pretty significant lock to me to win the AFC as long as Peyton Manning stays healthy.

I feel like I'm not predicting enough turnover with division winners/playoff teams. I'm going against popular opinion by picking Giants over Eagles and Pittsburgh over Cincy, but I at least have CIncy making the playoffs. Could easily be wrong about San Fran/Seattle placement as well but it's really tough, and I just wanted to throw at least a few curveballs in here.
Tim, you are consistent, but I'm not sure what you see in Pittsburgh, they are an aging team that hasn't drafted well in years and are either the worst or second worst team in the AFC North.

Honestly I think the Bengals will probably win the division, but I just felt like I had to predict more new division winners and I felt like out of the four, the AFC North was the most likely in that conference to have a different division winner. I'm not particularly sold on the Ravens, either.
