With the NFL season dwindling down, I thought it would be interesting to see how people view each position. I plan on doing this for every position over the next couple of weeks (we did this for basketball on that other site) and hopefully it leads to some good discussion.
1. Aaron Rodgers
2. Peyton Manning
3. Tom Brady
4. Drew Brees
5. Philip Rivers
6. Tony Romo
7. Ben Roethlisberger
8. Matt Ryan
9. Russell Wilson
10. Cam Newton / Andrew Luck
There is a dropoff from Brees to Rivers and then a huge dropoff from Roethlisberger to Ryan. There isn't much of a difference between a lot of QBs at that point and ultimately depends on you. I know some of you will disagree with me on Ryan but he is still one of the most consistent quarterbacks in the NFL regardless of maybe having a limited ceiling and when you get to around the 8th best or so QB in the NFL, consistency matters a bunch. What Ryan did this season with Julio Jones out and Roddy White damn near useless to go along with absolutely no running game and a dreadful offensive line was damn impressive in my opinion.
As far as Aaron Rodgers goes, he is the most complete quarterback in the NFL. Rodgers has arguably the strongest arm in the NFL to go along with pinpoint accuracy whether it is on short crossing rights, intermediate, or downfield, is incredible at protecting the football, and he is the best QB I have ever seen throwing on the run. Not to mention he is exceptional in the postseason as well - 66%, 19 touchdowns to 5 interceptions, 103.1 QB Rating with 7.8 Y/A. I love Aaron Godgers.
