So, according to the papers today, Rooney is worth every penny of his 300 grand a week pay cheque because he scored. Giroud scored twice yesterday. Does that mean he is worth 600 grand a week?

Hughton to get the sack if they lose today. Shame because he's a good chap but Norwich chief exec has put the sack on him with recent comments.

Viazon - Rooney's pay is probably not £300k net - once NI/PAYE tax is deducted, it's probably alot less. And the Giroud comparison ain't great. Giroud is hardly on Rooney's level atm although admittedly has scored more goals this season so far than him.

Still though, no one is worth that much. Messi isn't worth that much. That is just too much money to pay anyone anything. Who even needs that much money? What is he doing with it? I'd be happy on basic 20 grand a week if I was a footballer. That's more than enough money. It's just too much.

You could say the same for movie stars who get paid millions and other sports that have alot of money paid for their athletes. It is just the way sport and football is going. Messi IS worth that much so is Ronaldo. Rooney isn't and the only reason he's getting paid that much is because he's got a fucking agent who knows how to work the situations to their advantage. United were in a weak position and tbh, I think keeping him is better than letting him go although personally, wouldn't have cried had he left.

It certainly wouldn't surprise me. It'd be undeserved as far as I'm concerned. He's been let down by some very poor finishing, injuries and monumental bad luck. On any other day, we'd have put four or five past Cardiff in either the home or the away games. I'm still baffled as to how we didn't beat West Ham.

I feel bad for the guy, as sections of the crowd never gave him a chance, simply because he wasn't Paul Lambert.

As for Rooney earning that much money a week, I'd expect at least 30 goals a season, at least 20 assists, and a cure for cancer. Seems reasonable.

Thank you Norwich. Should have scored another to make it 2-0.

Fully deserved victory. Out played Tottenham in the first half and worked so hard all over the pitch. No hat trick for RVW but he had a good game and we got the 3 points, so I'm happy.

Great goal too. Should have had another two which would have helped our goal difference, but you can't have it all I suppose.

Also, David McNally crying post game was hysterical. I guess he was really disappointed he doesn't get to sack Hughton now.

^He was really crying?

If Norwich had given the backing to Hughton like West Ham did with Allardyce, might have done 'em well as he clearly has the players on his side.

Bit late to the party but...

Hughton is a great manager, I loved him when he was at the Blues, best thing that had happened to us in years. I hope Norwich keep him on, I think many clubs are too quick to sack a manager these days. I'm sure he'll be able to do great things if given more time. If it weren't for him we would probably be playing in League 1 right now.

As for Rooney, his wages after tax would still be around the £150k a week mark give or take, that is insane money. I wouldn't even know what to do with that amount. The problem with enforcing a wage cap is that it would prevent UK teams from attracting the best players and from keeping our homegrown players in the country so it would only work if all leagues enforced the same wage cap. It's getting silly, but I'm not sure what can be done about it.

From the daily mirror but..

http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/ ... os-3177729?

I don't see how they can afford this, they're in shit loads of debt anyway, but to have 3 players on 200k+ plus a few over 100k aswell is crazy!

Winning would solve a lot of United's problems, and bringing in Kroos would help with that.

As for Rooney, he's a hard-working guy and as long as he's with the club he'll give it everything he has, regardless of past problems.
