Only thing you can hope for is a new owner comes in and probably to get fans on-side asap, will sack him. Otherwise, he'll be there next season, to your utter "delight".

United finally appoint Louis Van Gaal on a three year deal, with Giggs as his number two.

Finally it's done, now it's time for Woodward to work over-time and get the deals done without a huge, public fuss as was the case last summer.

Van Gaal's statement bold and confidence, intrigued what Moyes' statement was post-appointment (probably showing deference to SAF I imagine) but glad Giggs has got the role as number two but it's important for Giggs to have a say and not be a yes man. LVG, having worked with Mourinho as his number two at Barca, likes his assistants to be honest so I hope Giggs won't be afraid to speak up and throw ideas into the mix. LVG will probably lean on him quite alot during his six months. I don't see Scholes/Butt making their way into the coaching role. I think Rene Meulensteen might be considered to come in as an additional first team coach.

Giggs, an amazing career. To think he's gone from curly haired winger wizard to a 40-year-old gentleman controlling the dressing room is incredible. I remember when around 97/98 he got those hamstring injuries and you probably thought then that his career would be cut short but tbf to him, he took up yoga, managed his body and with the aid of SAF, found a new role in the centre of the park. Quite rightly the most decorated PL player and I'd say probably no-one will eclipse his accomplishments on a medals scale.

I was thinking that MUTV might do a quick interview with LVG, and the club distribute this footage to broadcaster and the media to give them something to chew on but imagine LVG's press conferences will be packed, mostly British journalists.

Rooney's just tweeted about looking forward to LVG - sorry Wayne, the captaincy still isn't going to you. But I think it's abit of myth that LVG-Rooney will instantly clash. If Rooney shows the same application as he did at the start of last season - when he was fishing for a new, £300k a week deal - then sure LVG will appreciate that. It's his conditioning I'm worried about and that falling below LVG's standards.

Lmao, I loved how he put Kris Boyd on that list. We met some Aberdeen fans in Barca last weekend on a stag do and got blathered with them, those lads could drink.

Gianfranco Zola has declared his interest in the Norwich job. What do you think @Daz?

Well a friend of my dad, who tends to be a little bit in the know when it comes to these sorts of things, said Zola was the front runner within the club.

He's different to Hughton which I think is the main thing. The fans turned on Hughton for one reason or another, most of which I tend to agree with, but whoever Norwich appoint, I hope they can avoid that.

I feel we need someone with a little gravitas, who can come in, keep the squad together and just push on to promotion.

Neil Lennon has left Celtic, he'll probably come to England.

Moyes should go to Celtic IMO, perfect club for him right now. Easiest job in football and he'll be able to salvage his reputation because for some reason people see success with Celtic as an impressive feat despite the fact literally anyone could fucking win the league managing them.

There's been talks that Celtic have been keeping an eye on Lambert for a while now - makes sense as he's a legend up there, played nearly 200 games for them and was with them for 8 years.

I wouldn't be surprised if they hold out and see what the takeover situation at Villa is before announcing a new manager. Perhaps that's just wishful thinking on my part though.

Probably some chav looking to have his 15mins of fame.

Lennon leaving Celtic no big surprise. Normally, when you win three league titles it puts you on the MAP! But erm, Lennon's looking - potentially - for a Championship side (Brighton) or a team fighting for survival (West Brom). But that's down to the league quality rather than him.

This Yaya Toure birthday schtick is hilarious. He probably wants to leave as he's hurt his back carrying the team for the season with his 20 goals.

Zola's got no chance.

Adams has got the job on a three year deal. A big surprise. What happened to the other candidates? Assume Mackay might fancy Celtic job?
