The EPL is very easy to follow here in the USA. If you have cable, you can watch literally every regular season match by either watching on TV or streaming from the NBC Sports website. NBC Sports was EXCELLENT with their coverage last season. On the channel alone, you got 3 or 4 matches every Saturday, 2 or 3 every Sunday and also the mid week fixtures.
As far as I know, if you have a local MLS team, you can watch every match of theirs on some cable channel (for the Red Bulls, it's MSG Network). The MLS has a showcase match every weekend on NBC Sports, as well. So there isn't really an excuse if someone says the reason they don't watch soccer is because it isn't on television. People don't watch it mainly because it doesn't interest them.
Unfortunately the MLS isn't very good. I think once NYC FC come about and David Villa/Kaka/Lampard eventually play in the league, it will garner attention. But right now if someone wants to follow "World Cup" quality soccer they should watch the EPL. It won't be that much of a skill gap per say especially if you watch the big teams like City, Chelsea, etc that have a lot of National Team players.
As for the run for Team USA, I enjoyed the ride. Took quite a bit to get out of the tough group but we did, just came up short against Belgium. Very proud of the effort and I'm excited for the CONCACAF Gold Cup next year.
