Belgium were seen as the "underdogs" even though they have a very talented but slightly inexperienced at big tournaments. They have a solid defence, led by Vincent Kompany and a midfielder involving Lampshade aka Marouane Fellaini and strikers who are young but talented. USA will have to defend deep and not allow Hazard to get in behind the defence.

Just typical I dozed off and missed pretty much all of extra-time after De Bruyne's goal.

But USA, fantastic effort. If they can just try and develop younger players they have domestically and by hoping they get snapped abroad, they could do well going forward in the next WC.

I hope you Americans & the Americans round America don't lose interest in football(soccer) now, the futures bright for USA and get involved with watching MLS because despite people outside of USA calling it a "retirement league" it truly is a great league to watch!

Easier said than done, the EPL gets more TV time than MLS does here and that's not even all that much.

I was checking out some of the coverage that ESPN had for the World Cup and especially USA games.

You guys went all out. It's really nice to see that level of support. We don't really see it here.

Hopefully they'll get a new deal sorted, they'd be silly not to invest in the current popularity and not miss out on thsi oppertunity but if not http://www.wiziwig.tv/competition.php?c ... e=football is your best friend, MLS always have their games being streamed

The EPL is very easy to follow here in the USA. If you have cable, you can watch literally every regular season match by either watching on TV or streaming from the NBC Sports website. NBC Sports was EXCELLENT with their coverage last season. On the channel alone, you got 3 or 4 matches every Saturday, 2 or 3 every Sunday and also the mid week fixtures.

As far as I know, if you have a local MLS team, you can watch every match of theirs on some cable channel (for the Red Bulls, it's MSG Network). The MLS has a showcase match every weekend on NBC Sports, as well. So there isn't really an excuse if someone says the reason they don't watch soccer is because it isn't on television. People don't watch it mainly because it doesn't interest them.

Unfortunately the MLS isn't very good. I think once NYC FC come about and David Villa/Kaka/Lampard eventually play in the league, it will garner attention. But right now if someone wants to follow "World Cup" quality soccer they should watch the EPL. It won't be that much of a skill gap per say especially if you watch the big teams like City, Chelsea, etc that have a lot of National Team players.

As for the run for Team USA, I enjoyed the ride. Took quite a bit to get out of the tough group but we did, just came up short against Belgium. Very proud of the effort and I'm excited for the CONCACAF Gold Cup next year.

It might be because I was dozing off but looking back, I think the saves Howard made were saves I'd expect him to make. He's a very reliable goal-keeper and has done a solid job at Everton.

Only one person you Americans need to thank for Tim Howard's success:

Spoiler:

Moyes took Howard from Manchester United and signed him for Everton
