Costa Rica and Uruguay both under-estimated.

Well at least Hodgson can give a run out to the other players and give them some WC experience. If it was up to me, I'd ring 11 changes. But he'll give Gerrard-Lampard a swansong game to say farewell to the international arena.

I thought the positivity of Italy would transfer and spur the team on. But just slumped big time. Ah well, players will have a nice long holiday before the start of next season so that's good news.

The performances were alright, but it's embarrassing and humiliating being dumped out the tournament this early.

Also, just thinking - what are the odds that in 4 years time, we'll look back on this team and laugh at who was selected?

In 2010, guys like Aaron Lennon, Shaun Wright-Phillips, Steven Warnock and Emile Heskey made the World Cup squad. I'm pretty sure that in 4 years, people will be laughing that Danny Welbeck started both games (some people are already, but when he leaves United his England career is done), and they'll laugh at Chris Smalling made the team.
