Porky's list of football conspiracies - Part 2

Joleon Lescott's mysterious knee injury

About 2003, when Lescott was about 21 and a promising player at Wolves, he suffered a massive knee injury. It kept him out for the entire 03/04 season and he ended up having several surgeries on it. The injury never happened on the pitch or in training, and so people were wondering how someone could wreck their knee so badly. Shortly after, this came to light -

When Wolves got promoted to the Premier League the season before, Lescott was seen getting overly friendly at the end of season celebrations with this one girl who was related to two well-known thugs around the Wolverhampton area, the Johnson brothers (Google them). He was threatened and told to back off, said he would, but didn't. The next bit is the only part of the story which changes, as I've heard that there was a video of him eating her out being bluetoothed around on people's phones (this was 2003, remember :lol ), though some people say he was caught shagging her on a car bonnet somewhere and quickly drove off.

The Johnsons caught him and beat the shit out of him, ended up wrecking his knee. Villa wanted him after his recovery, and despite supporting Villa growing up, Lescott wanted to leave the midlands due to the Johnsons and went to Everton. Villa are after him again currently, but he looks like he's off to Hull City rather than joining his boyhood club.

The whole thing has gone down in Wolves folklore and people consider it a fact rather than a funny football myth - people are still legitimately pissed at the Johnsons because they cost Wolves their star defender for their first season in the Premier League, and wound up getting relegated.

South Korea 'getting some help' at the 2002 World Cup

In 2002, South Korea were the co-hosts of the tournament. I should preface this by saying that South Korea have been notoriously shit for years, only producing one player in Park Ji-Sung who had any noteable success. So, when they reached the semi-finals of the 2002 World Cup, beating Portugal, Italy and Spain, eyebrows were certainly raised. Italy were the first to sense a conspiracy after they had a man wrongfully sent off, and a goal wrongfully disallowed for offside before succumbing to a 2-1 loss. When Italy, one of the most corrupt footballing countries in the world smell a conspiracy, you know something's up - and the referee of the game, Byron Moreno, was found guilty of corruption later on.

Funny though, as South Korea striker Ahn-Jung-hwan, the man who scored the winning goal against Italy, actually played for Perugia - an Italian club. His contract was terminated immediately.

Aaron Ramsey dabbles in black magic

Whenever Aaron Ramsey scores, people die.

May 1st, 2011 - Ramsey nets against Man United at the Emirates.
May 2nd, 2011 - Bin Laden is shot dead by US Navy

October 2nd, 2011 - Ramsey scores against Spurs at White Hart Lane
October 5th, 2011 - Steve Jobs dies

October 19th, 2011 - Ramsey scores against Marseille in the Champions League
October 20th, 2011 - Colonel Gaddafi dies

February 11, 2012 - Ramsey scores against Sunderland
THE SAME DAY - Whitney Houston found dead

People began to cotton on to what Ramsey was doing, and the deaths mysteriously stopped...

Now for the most controversial of all: Is England's 1966 World Cup win legitimate?

England were the hosts and eventual winners of the 1966 World Cup. The hosts are usually the favourites to win, but not in this case - the favourites were Brazil, having won back-to-back World Cups in 1958 and 1962, they were expected to get a World Cup hat-trick.

However, Brazil lost 3-1 to Hungary and 3-0 Portugal in the group stages - the world was shocked. In both games, the Brazilian players, Pele in particular, were subject to brutal fouls - which went ignored by the referees. They showed no cards in either game.

The referees' nationalities? English.

President of FIFA at the time? Stanley Rous - English.

England made it through their group and proceeded to face Argentina. The controversy doesn't stop here though - in the 35th minute of the game, Argentina captain Antonio Rattin was shown a red card by the referee, for no apparent reason. Rattin was visibly upset and refused to leave the pitch for ten minutes, as he didn't understand what he'd been sent off for - his demands for an interpreter were turned down. England, a man over, scraped the game 1-0 with a goal from Geoff Hurst, and proceeded to the semi-finals. After the game, the referee claimed Rattin had used 'violence of the tongue', and thus deserved his red card - despite the German referee being unable to speak Spanish.

England faced Portugal in the semi-finals, with the game set to be played at Goodison Park. In an unprecedented move, the location was changed to Wembley - meaning that England would play Portugal in their country's biggest fortress. England won 2-1.

The most controversial moment of all came in the World Cup Final. England were facing West Germany, with the game locked at 2-2. Geoff Hurst, England's best striker, had a shot which bounced off the crossbar and onto the line.

Modern technology has shown that the ball did not cross the line. Even referee Gottfried Dienst was unsure whether it crossed the line... but gave it anyway. England went on to score another, winning 4-2, and were crowned champions.

Fernando Torres is an accountant

Okay, so this one isn't legit - but thought I'd round this off on a funny note.

It would explain his bad form though...
