Probably my favourite headline ever:

‘No Way To Prevent This,’ Says Only Nation Where This Regularly Happens

But it's true that people shouldn't lose their killing devices just because a bunch of stupid people were thoughtless enough to do killing with them. How could anyone possibly have foreseen this?

It's just sad that this is popping up so often that there's almost no time for people to actually mourn the new lives lost, or feel bad for them. They just become more figures in an ever growing statistic.

Eventually something is going to be done about gun control, because eventually America will have that one mass shooting that's 'one too many' and someone will put their foot down. And after that happens, people are going to look back at situations like this one and wonder "why the fuck didn't we do something sooner?"

People that use the phrase "Guns don't kill people" have a really screwed up view of what a gun is. No shit guns don't pull their own trigger, but humans that have guns readily available to them do. Eliminate the option/temptation or at least curb the availability. People also need to talk about the other side of this debate. The fact that social media is another major reason for these issues. These people are causing these mass shootings to be famous. This specific incident involved a series of grotesque posts on 4chan with people encouraging him. The guy who shot the news reporter was posting the video on Youtube. We as a society feed these monsters by giving them attention. I read that the police in this case, are refusing to release the name of the shooter. This is what should happen. This kid wanted attention and wanted his contingent of moron followers to see what he did. He wanted people to talk about him on the news and on social media. Its not just the police that need to hold off on releasing any names, but also sites that profit from it (TMZ, etc). We live in a society of people always acting like they need instant information, but these are situations where it should be less about knowing who and more about discussing why. For me, all of these murderers are faceless thugs who deserve to rot in hell. It is much more important to discuss why this keeps happening and figure out a way to fix it. Maybe the answer is eliminating all fire arms, maybe the answer is making mental evaluations a requirement in schools and in all hiring processes.

Will you guys calm down. America is the only country with crazy people. That's really the only explanation.

Sort of related, it's funny that people only trot out the "mental illness" line when it's a white shooter in these sort of high-profile cases. When black people shoot each other up in the ghetto it's clearly because they're thugs and don't deserve our pity.

Oh yeah. It's almost comical these days. Black? Had to be a thug, unemployed bum. Brown? ISIL Terrorist. White? A deranged individual with no motives or connections. We couldn't have seen it coming. You know what we need? Good guys with guns. Our thoughts and prayers are with the victim's families.

Oh god yeah if the shooter was Muslim it'd instantly be considered an act of terrorism and another sign that all Muslim people are evil and hell bent on destroying America.

The racial divisiveness that the media perpetuates is so obvious that I don't know how anybody falls for it anymore.
