Another US school shooting, this time in Nevada

(CNN) -- No one knows why he picked this day, this time, these victims.
It was the first day back from fall break at Sparks Middle School. Students milled about, waiting to hear the morning bell.
Within moments, two 12-year-old students were wounded. A beloved teacher and military veteran lay dead. And the young shooter -- armed with his parents' gun -- took his own life, silencing any way of understanding what he was thinking.
"It's not clear as of right now if he was targeting anyone in particular," Deputy Chief Tom Miller of the Sparks Police Department told CNN's "New Day" Tuesday.

That's the first paragraph, the above link takes you tothe rest of the story.

At least there aren't as many victims this time, but still... what the fuck? And at a middle school? How does a middle schooler get access to a gun? Talk about some absolutely terrible gun security by the parents (most likely). Sad situation all around.

Sigh.

Yet again, the whole of America will say how disgusting this is but nothing will happen because of it, just like all the other shootings that have happened in recent memory.

See, I don't get it. Constitutionalists support the second amendment because it is designed to protect yourself and your family from tyrannical government. So, let's say, hypothetically, the US government decided to turn tyrannical overnight and infringe on its citizens. Would having a gun in your house actually help? :lol

I mean, look at the vastness of the US military. If they wanted to kill their own people, you'd wouldn't see the soldiers going door to door shooting people. There'd just drop bombs and kill/detain people in large numbers.

People don't realize that the second amendment was for two main reasons that no long apply.

1-We had just gotten done fighting a war against a tyrannical government. And many of the states were still afraid that someone would seize power
2-There were a shit ton of Indians and bandits and high way men, etc and it wasn't nearly as easy as it is now to bring in the police forces or army.

^ Precisely. Besides general protection, I really can't see why having relatively easy access to guns is more beneficial than having much stricter gun laws.

This shit is getting ridiculous. Something needs to be done for once. The problem is all they do is talk about doing something, never actually acting on it.

Awful. It's shocking that country such as the USA, has not yet come up with a solution to this problem considering the lives that are being lost, and YOUNG lives. Children just going to school.

I'd expect to hear of shootings of this nature in other countries but after the last massacre at a school, and Obama's brief words of change, nothing has happened.

I have to admit that I'm glad I'm from these shores, the UK that is, as at least you don't have to face, hear or be involved in these sorts of incidents.
