One of the biggest heels in Mexico and damn good worker. He was charismatic as hell and always very funny to watch. Can't believe he died, doing something he's probably done a thousand times. Unbelievable week for AAA as far as mishaps go.

This is awful. I just read a little on it and apparently he's believed to suffer cervical spinal trauma upon hitting the rope preparing for Rey's 619. It was the definition of a freak accident. Just terrible.

I feel horrible for Mysterio, even though it wasn't his fault I'm sure he still feels horrible about it, especially his first match back and what a big deal that was, forever changed.

Do you think Rey might retire?

I doubt it. This was awful but I'm sure he will be able to continue on, even if he takes some time off. None of us can know for sure how emotionally torn up he is about this.

Did anyone watch either of the videos attached to the story? I found it very strange and very uncomfortable that they continued the match while all that was going on.

Reports are saying he was KO'd before hitting the ropes and was supposed to duck out of the 619, which hit him in the throat and caused whiplash. I don't think it's Rey's fault, as I'm assuming he didn't realize he was actually KO'd. Freak accident.

I don't want to watch the videos to be honest. But from what I'm reading I'd imagine that there was mass confusion and when something goes wrong like that you can't tell immediately how serious it is. They might think concussion before they think life threatening injury.

The videos, especially the second one are pretty tough to watch.

They are definitely. The second one in particular seemed almost surreal.

Damn this is tragic man. Seeing him slumped over like that falling rope to rope, it's disturbing. Poor guy and his family. He was a pretty huge star, I'm sure there will be a lot of grieving fans too. I don't know what to say, it's just so shitty.

The kick and the way he landed on the ropes looked so normal, Rey noticed something was wrong right away, I'm sure he missed the 619 on purpose. It sure didn't help that the fat guy in the striped shirt was shaking him around like that, but I'm pretty sure that when blood comes out of your tear duct, you're done for. RIP. What a horrible tragedy.

Man, this is absolutely terrible. First and foremost you feel awful for the victim and his family, but also, think of how Rey's feeling right now. He probably feels like this man's death is square on his shoulders when all indications seem to be that it was a total accident.

Just a total nightmare scenario. :(

Yeah there's parts in the video were they cut to Rey and it looks like he's trying not to cry and it looks like he feels pretty guilty. Horrible situation to be in, feeling responsible for a freak accident.

I can't help but wonder why they continued the match. Can't blame Mysterio for it though. Looked like everything was going according to plan, he just hit the ropes wrong. Also, it's a terrible idea to shake someone like that. If he was still alive at that point, that sure didn't help.
