Is anybody else not interested in wrestling more?

Postby AkydefGoldberg » Oct 18, '13, 10:29 am

I joined the old club in 2004 when my wrestling fascination had already begun in 2002 and I was a regular poster on wrestling for a good few years, and also doing the sim game which was addictive and had me hooked.

But at some point, my interest faded and IDK why? Did I just grow out of it? Was the product just not gripping enough?

I think my interest started to wane in 2006 and onwards and after that I sporadically watched it but kept abreast of what was going on but The Rock's return in 2011 made me tune in again briefly just for him tbh.

IDK how the Wrestling Discussion was on the old site but from what I remember, wasn't the greatest compared to the old days.

I very rarely watch now besides catching the ending of Bottom Line or the opening parts of RAW. I think I just grew out of it whilst the product didn't enthrill me as it used to.

Thoughts?

I haven't been interested in wrestling in a while now... I think the last full WWE show I watched was Extreme Rules in 2012 with Cena/Lesnar.

It's just... not good. We had a topic about this on WWE-Club in the week before it shut down about why we stopped watching, so I don't want to write it all out again, but basically the product is just so bad right now and the company and people running it have absolutely zero respect for the loyalty and intelligence of their fan base. There are so many easy things they could do to make the product better, but they are so ridiculously devoted to doing the exact OPPOSITE of what the fanbase wants.

So to answer your question, it may be partially because you grew out of it. But at the same time, I think the biggest factor is that there's just nothing compelling about the current product and there hasn't been in quite some time. And every single time that it seems as though they're about to turn a corner and put out a great storyline, they completely fuck it up.

So no, you are not the only one.

Agreed with Tim on basically all counts. I just don't have a place in my life for wrestling anymore.

Ditto. I still watch though, from time to time, because there's not much else on.

I've started to enjoy the WWE more since I accepted the fact that a) WWE will always be PG. b)The Attitude Era will never return, and c) Cena will never turn heel.

I felt the same way, even about my beloved ROH. Still, I finally gave in and started watching the ROH TV shows online, and I've been sucked in yet again. I watch WWE once in a blue moon but I'm committing myself to watching ROH weekly and I'm even considering buying a paid subscription because they have SO much good stuff for paid subscribers, including the old shows which are so awesome.

I ignored ROH for a while because I thought I was done with wrestling, but ROH is keeping my love for wrestling alive.

I think the WWE is great right now. Summerslam was a fantastic show. Sure, the last two PPVs may have been a little lacking but I absolutely love the Rhodes/McMahons storyline. Goldust is freaking awesome. Daniel Bryan is in the main event. Cena has been gone for two months. The tag team division is exciting again. Punk/Heyman is a fun feud. The entire show isn't perfect but there are a lot of fun things going on right now.

I would say I'm not interested in it as much as I was before when I would would say I was a fanatic. I definitely grew out of it for a while. But I still watch it these days. Mainly because there is nothing else on on the days its on. I went to an indie show last night though in London and I saw a lot of things that reminded why I love wrestling. It was a great show.

I haven't watched any sort of wrestling in well over a year or so. Just not interested.

Pretty much word for word what I was going to post. WWE is the best it's been in years and NJPW is other promotions still kick ass.
