Wargames is hard man. I always thought the rules were stupid, like it not being an elimination match. Yet I usually enjoy them to some degree, even if they are a cluster muck. Once again Arn Anderson was my favorite guy in that match, although Austin arguably had the best showing. I was surprised that Dustin was so over and had some nice fire going. Overall it was fun, but not that great.

Michaels/HHH/Benoit was much better. I forgot how over Benoit was during that match. It made me want to watch Michaels and Benoit go one on one. HHH did good, but meh, it's HHH. There was some great spots and there was some nice chain wrestling, and a lot of suplexes. Suplex wrestling is my favorite form of wrestling and you see it so rarely now a days. You'll be luck to get one or two basic suplexes in a match, but there aren't any guys whose wrestling style is 50 different types of suplexes like Angle, Taz, or Benoit. Anyway I really enjoyed the match because of that. Hell even Lesnar's suplexes can be kind of lazy, these guys had an intensity when they hit them.. idk I just liked them better. Also the ending with Eddie coming out and the confetti... :crybaby

I know we're not supposed to count the aftermath, but I'm sorry. When my favorite wrestler of all time and another one I liked a lot are in the ring... well you guys know the whole story there. Anyway it definitely affects you're perception of the event.

Benoit/Shawn/HHH for me.

HHH vs HBK vs Benoit is the clear winner.

I will always have a soft spot in my heart for War Games matches, but I gotta go wtih the Triple Threat here. It tells a much easier to follow and interesting story and has probably aged better than this particular War Games match.

The triple threat was the better match here (the manky gorefest happening atop Michaels notwithstanding); Wargames had some great wrestlers, and a few cool spots, but was a bit too much of a mess for me.

Definitely the triple threat here. The War Games had some great performers - some of my favourites to watch from that era (Steamboat, Anderson, Rude). But it devolved into a mess by the end. The triple threat was entertaining all the way through. Even if Kirbi was freaking out about how bloody Michaels was for most of it. :lol

Ok. Don't know if my vote matters anymore, but I have just watched the Wargames matched and rewatched the triple threat and just wanted to give my opinions.

I have to say that the triple threat wins it here. This is the first time I have watched it since the first time I saw it back in 2004 and it was just as good as I remember.

Wargames and some entertaining moments and the crowd were really into it, which always helps. But I feel sometimes in these multi man matches, it can be a bit hard to follow. There was so much going on. Also, with the no pin or submission rule until all men were in the match, people were just basically beating the crap out of people for the hell of it. Without needed to get a pin fall or submission, seeing people beat each other up can get tedious. If it was some sort of elimination match, it might have made it better.

Anyway, Triple H/Benoit/HBK wins it for me.

If I'm being perfectly honest about it. Neither of these matches are high on my list. I never was a fan of the WarGames gimmick - it's too drawn out and weird that it's not elimination.

the triple threat at Mania 20 isn't particularly inspiring for me either, but it does beat the WarGames match for me. Which was particularly slow and not a great pace for my enjoyment. That's the thing that's strange about this one. Even if I'm not a fan of WarGames, there's better WarGames matches out there to me so for this one to even make the tournament doesn't work particularly well for me.

I'm going to go ahead and add another vote to HBK/HHH/Benoit, which is kind of weird since I'm one of the few champions of the Wargames match there is on here. So maybe it would be better if I voted Wargames and started a big argument :P

The Wargames match was probably the best of that type of match that they had, at least near the top of nothing else. I can understand some people not liking the rule that it can't end until everyone is in, and I would say I probably agree with that. Having elimination occur at anytime would have added an extra element, as well as making the one man advantage even more vital. I did like the frenetic nature of the match, it felt like everyone was fighting tooth and nail and every second and every move mattered, and the crowd was really hot, particularly when the faces evened the odds. The finish wasn't the best, it was creative, but the shot to the arm didn't look like it hurt that much to be honest, and the arm submission was weak. That knocks points off.

The Triple Threat is probably made even more famous by what happened years later. It went from one of the most iconic moments in Mania history (in a great, heartwarming way) to one of the most iconic moments (in a horrible, heartbreaking way). The match as really good though, all three men worked well together and the finishing stretch was great, as people really wanted Benoit to win and you could almost tell they didn't think it would actually happen. Then it did and they went nuts. The aftermath with Eddie brings a tear to your eye for multiple reasons.
