Kyle/Cruz - Here we go. Good match to open the show although the outcome was sadly inevitable which, as I touched upon with my comments on the last Onslaught, makes it hard to truly get invested in the match itself. The first thing I have to ask is why does Dylan Kyle enter through the crowd? Forgive me if it's been explained and I missed it but Kyle entering through the crowd makes zero sense whatsoever. Spencer Miller does that already and with his gimmick it's more suited to him than someone like Kyle.

For reasons I specified earlier there's really not much point in me going in to detail on this one. The writing was good and you seem to be a very detailed writer which will go a long way in making the character stand-out. I enjoyed the action in the ring but was pleased to see you didn't forget about Roxanne on the sideline. If you're going to have a manager I think it's important to keep them relevant to the action where possible.

As cool as the RLS off the apron was I wouldn't have had the fans go as crazy as you wrote them. It's important to remember that this is the very first match of the pre-show featuring two complete newbies to the company. The crowd is still trying to figure out both (even Kyle) and it doesn't seem plausible that they'd drop their drinks/popcorn (popcorn?!) etc...during the first match of the pre-show. Pentagram Choke finish was sweet and it was a really good move to finish on. Very surprised to see Kyle win via TKO but it made him look like a serious threat and at the end of the day that's all you can ask for. Hopefully you'll get to work with an actual writer next time around.

From One Brit To Another - Handled this myself this month seeing as Daz covered the segment at the last PPV. Hopefully he's cool with the dialogue I wrote for his character to set up the two big matches later in the night.

J-Team/Brother Comeau - Shorter match than I'd expected here but the action was intense and fast-paced as anticipated. Good to see the Comeau's utilizing the double team early on, I'm a big fan of tag-team wrestling and think it's important to use teamwork as much as you can as it already makes the match different from 90% of the rest of the card in most cases. Not sure I understand the logic behind Carter releasing the leg before the referee can even begin the pin - I suppose it plays into the 'quirky' persona his team has (both teams have that tbh) and I appreciate that both teams messed with each other throughout but the way I see it you go for the pin if the opportunity is there regardless.

I did think it was over momentarily after the Spartan Laser but I wasn't surprised to see the J-Team pick up the win. Cool to see them use an underhanded tactic to get the win, it's that type of booking needed to make the J-Team stand-out as proper heels. I do think heading into a feud over the tag titles they need to alter their gimmick somewhat, I find them far too similar to the Comeaus to make them standout. Got to imagine Catwalk retain on the main show now.

Leave The Memories Alone - Magnum has something up his sleeve for later in the night. This can't be good. The SOS thing is still being referenced, do we have any former SOS writers left that might show up to shut Phillips up?

Card Rundown - Resurgence OOOO YEAAAA DIG IT. Looking forward to the main show, some cracking matches on the card. Hopefully it doesn't get delayed!

Kyle vs Cruz – I had free reign with this match so when I wrote this match, I took away everything that I did wrong in Kyle vs Master match, cause I wrote a checklist on what I didn't do which was more reaction from the crowd, Roxanne at ringside, and what was going through Dylan's mind, and I wanted to convey all of that in this match. I wanted to build tension, anticipation, shock, what was gonna happen next, little bit of drama, telling a story, and the depths that Cruz and Kyle are going to go through to get the win. So I really hope all of you got that feeling while reading that match. I will also explain the finish, cause some might not agree with it. The reason for the KO win is if the writer comes back it gives him something to go on like no wrestler can beat Cruz via submission/pinfall, the only way to defeat him is by knocking him out. So in case they do resume their feud down the line, it's a good starting point. It's also a huge pro for the loser more than it is for the winner of the match to be KO, especially for an arrogant character like Cruz, it gives him something to brag about if the writer returns. Losing by submission/pinfall/KO doesn't weaken a character by any means IMO, losing via a squash match is embarrassing, unless a story is being told lol. I did the TKO finish for Cruz's character more than Kyle's character. Also wanted to do a good build up on what fans can look forward to at Resurgence with so many awesome matches being booked for the show, if this opener is like this, then they really gonna get their moneys worth at Resurgence.

Also in the beginning I had Cruz's entrance written in, but I got so invested in writing the match, I didn't realize I was on my last page. I was a page over and I had to cut something, and I read the match wondering if I could take a couple of sentences out, but I felt that it would interrupt the flow of the match, so I cut the entrance. I rather give you guys a good match to read over an entrance any day of the week. I'm also gonna be writing Kyle as having one of the most devastating knife edge chops in the business, so no stealing j/k :P . This is the first time I've been so detailed but I think being very detailed and even the smallest thing can take a match above and beyond.

I understand about fan reaction but in his profile his time away from WCSF, he went back into the indy scenes and he got his fans there, and also in his debut in PCW, I wrote that Kyle had loyal followers for those that followed him in the indy scenes and WCSF so Kyle really doesn't have to work as hard for fans to cheer or boo him cause every wrestler is gonna have loyal fans no matter what like CM Punk. As far as his entrance is concerned, Kyle doesn't trust anyone in the back right now but Roxanne, he trusts the fans more so he rather come from the crowd for the time being as it's less likely he'll be attacked from behind hence security walking behind Roxanne. So unless he gains an ally or trusts someone he'll be coming from the crowd for a little bit before coming out on stage.

From One Brit to Another – I liked this, from the fact it's real life, it's like you don't want to hear it but you have to because deep down you know it's good advice. Nice little honest talk between the two of them.

J Team vs Brothers Comeau – I see BJ has taken Melissa's role of announcing themselves before the match starts :lol . I love reading the “Finish Him” automatically makes me think of Mortal Kombat and if the fans are saying it like that, that's even more of a bonus. J Team picks up the win, so good for them.

Leave the Memories Alone – I'm really liking Magnum Phillips from what I've been reading about him in past shows and whatnot and such a shame that The Buck isn't around. Looks like I missed out on him again. I'm wondering what Phillips has planned at Resurgence. IDK if it will be teary eyed as much more of pissing the fans off more than anything, but we'll see.

Resurgence PPV Card – Love the PPV rundown and promoting each match, WWE use to do that, but just stopped. So good pre-show and can't wait for the PPV. :clap

Too bad we couldn't see Romo's promo for Kid Spartan.

Re: Resurgence Pre-show Results

Jay Cruz vs Dylan Kyle- I'm still trying to figure Kyle out and part of me wonders if the writer is as well. I can't help but think about the Kyle from WCSF when I read his stuff, but I think Stratusfied may be trying to go in a different direction. It was a decent match though, even if it did seem a tad extravagant for a pre-show.

From One Brit to Another- whenever I read segments, I never read them in my own accent, it's always in an over the top American accent as if I were watching on TV. "Ey Up!" "Alright" was just a nice simple way of altering that. Nice little segment to lead into the respective matches.

J Team vs Brothers Comeau- I think this match was perfect for a pre-show. Not too crazy but enough action to make a decent match. I'm not sure if TBC winning spoils the Tag Title Match at the PPV because I can't really see them jump back into a feud with NRC.

Leave the Memories Alone- this is exactly what the pre show is for, a way to get people hyped for what's coming later in the night and this tease of a segment from Magnus, and the card rundown for that matter, was great

^^TBC didn't win the match :P

I'm short on time so I'm just going to give a few quick thoughts:

I can't really say much that Prophet didn't already say about the first match, sucks that Danielson seems to have disappeared. I think it may have been a good thing for Stratusfied to have more space to write because as HCL says, it does seem that he's taking the character in a different direction and it gave him more room to experiment with that. We'll need to see some more matches out of Kyle to really have a hang for what his position in PCW is going to be, but this was a good start.

J-Team winning doesn't surprise me, and it probably means we've got a J-Team/NRC matchup coming up. I think this was the right length for a pre-show and it had some action for the length that it was written at. Going to be interesting to see where TBC go from here... we've got that new team coming in, as well as a potential matchup with the Disciples.

Daz and Foster seem like solid bros, nice little segment to build anticipation for the main show there. And stay tuned, Magnum's got some fun stuff in store :tim

Let's do THIIIIIIiiiiis>>W>S<MHD?

Dylan Kyle vs. Jay Cruz - As many have mentioned I would have enjoyed this a lot more if Danielson was still around, but that's not Stratusfied's fault. It can be tough to write a match by yourself but I think it was enjoyable enough.

I thought Cruz getting the "jobber entrance" was a little weird. And Kyle coming through the crowd, even with the explanation for it, makes no sense to me. I was hoping Miller's entrance would be unique being that he's done it from the start of PCW and it fits his gimmick. I don't see why Kyle wouldn't trust that someone wouldn't try to attack him, does he have any enemies? Hess and Miller I guess I could understand as they're previous opponents, but I don't think they even know he's around being that they're caught up in their own problems. I highly doubt anyone really has a problem with him at this point besides Jay Cruz, which is why I think he should have a normal entrance.

I kinda chuckled at the fans dropping popcorn and spilling drinks, I don't think the Russian Legsweep would have that hard of an impact to cause an earthquake. :P I thought the commentary at times was a bit odd, they'd be excited one second then kinda just go back to normal quickly. Good finish with the submission, I just don't think the fans would be shocked that Jay wouldn't get his arm up either, don't they expect him to lose? Again, just nitpicking on my part.

From One Brit To Another - It seems interesting that Daz welcomes the mind games of Miller, I think this is a sign that Miller is already in his head. Could be foreshadowing? Cute interaction here. :P

The Brothers Comeau vs The J Team - Nice cheap heel heat from the J Team with the promo as they walk to the ring. Clearly don't want to see them win if I'm a fan. I don't agree with Carter letting up on the pin attempt. I would think they would want to win at all costs and forgoing a chance to do so in a #1 contender's match doesn't make much sense to me. J Team wins as expected, but I don't think it means the tag title match is a certainty. I think there could be a three way dance later on.

Leave the Memories Alone - My guess for the PPV segment is that Magnum blows the title up. Puts it in a trash can and sets it on fire. As for SOS members left, I think only Daz and Omega were part of that, so me thinks Omega will be paying him a visit.

Card Rundown - I really enjoyed this, WWE never really does it anymore. Solid build to each match without it being too long, I liked it.

All in all, a nice pre-show. Definitely should do one for every PPV IMO.

First, I really like the use of PPV pre-shows in sim feds. It gives you a little something to read while waiting for the main show to be finished.

Nice match between Kyle and Cruz. Too bad Danielson has disappeared, as it made the outcome of the match obvious. Maybe he'll come back soon, as this had all the makings of a very good feud between these two.

Good promo with Foster and Daz, building anticipation for their upcoming matches at Resurgence.

Looking forward to seeing what Magnum has up his sleeve for the PPV.

The rundown for the PPV was really well done.

Re: Resurgence Pre-show Results

Just got around to reading the pre show. I really like the format. It is not overly packed with matches, which makes it easier to read, and it done a great job of building towards the matches on the card as well with the rundown at the end.

Kyle vs Cruz was a solid encounter. Stratusfied was always a good match writer when it came to Dylan Kyle and this showed again here. I liked the little throw backs towards Kyle's injured arm, it is something he has had history with throughout his career so it was good to see some continuity there. I do think some of the reactions were over done for a match on the pre show though, especially at the commentary desk. The line by Cage after the match was unnecessary in my opinion and kinda took away from what the match was supposed to be. I would also look into some of the expressions used as well. I could never imagine someone "squealing in delight". Squealing just isn't a word to be used in a positive sense.

Overall though, the action was great and the match was well paced I thought, as I expected. The Russian Leg Sweep spot towards the end was awesome, we rarely read something like it so it was unique. Cruz being made to look like a legitimate threat despite his writer not being around was handled well also. Sometimes people can get carried away and just bury characters but I think Stratusfied did a good job of making Cruz look good. So kudos on that. I am looking forward to seeing what is next for Kyle, he always had potential as a character and I think he can be a great addition to the PCW roster.

"People like Spencer Miller are the reason good people like me do bad things". What a line. This was an interesting interaction between Daz and Foster to say the least. Foster's warning of Miller really shows the threat he poses to Daz, and legitimises him as a threat also despite his loss at the previous pay per view. Daz is awesome and Miller wants to be awesome. So I have no doubts that their match will be nothing but awesome.

J-Team/Brother Comeau may have been short but it certainly was fought at a quick pace, which differentiated itself from the previous match on the card. The J-Team really have some great heel traits about them, BJ Washington in particular stood out. I loved the part where he allowed Calvin to crawl towards Carter before pulling him back. Great stuff there. Overall, it was a decent match which although didn't showcase both teams as much as I had hoped, it put across what was needed and made J-Team look like a threat to the titles.

From the few shows I have read from PCW, Magnum Phillips has probably been the standout star. His stuff has been consistently entertaining and he has been put across as a dominant force in the fed. He will no doubt be near the top soon. This was a good promo which set things in motion for his plans for the night. What will he do? I don't know but it honestly wouldn't surprise me if he cost Daz his match against Miller. Given that he has taken out Buck and is carrying the SOS title, the logical step would be for him to feud with Daz next.

Overall, it was a good show which made me look forward to reading Resurgence once it is posted!

Re: Resurgence Pre-show Results

Postby Daz » May 30, '14, 6:31 pm

Dylan Kyle vs. Jay Cruz – I’m pretty sure 6 inch spiked stilettos should be considered a foreign object. I liked that the fact the two characters share the same finisher was brought up. Gives the opportunity for some fun psychology later on. This started out fairly solidly and I liked the little feeling out process at the start, and the way the match got more physical as it progressed. I was disappointed that after acknowledging it in the open, nothing really came out of the Crippler Crossface stuff. There was the opportunity to work some counters and whatnot in there, with both men being familiar with the hold etc. The Russian Leg Sweep off the apron seemed a little bit much and may have been better placed occurring inside the ring, possibly off the ropes. Also, the debut of a new submission finisher, may have worked better off the heels of a failed Crossface attempt, because of Cruz’s own familiarity with the hold. That’s a lot of nitpicking really and you’ll get back in the swing of things in no time.

From One Brit to Another – Let Nick handle this as I did the promo between these two at the last PPV. Did a great job as you’d expect, setting up two of the marquee matches at the PPV. Really like the friendship between these two. It’s kind of a nice change of pace to have these regular recurring segments between two mates. Also, if one turns on the other at some point, we’ve laid months’ worth of groundwork.

J-Team vs. Brother’s Comeau – Short but it certainly got the job done. I enjoyed the way the J-Team were portrayed, playing the devious heels. Loved the way BJ allowed Calvin Comeau to crawl towards his brother before cutting off the tag.

Leave the Memories Alone – Magnum really is an entertaining bastard. Although, he better not ruin Daz’s nice belt.

Loved the running down of the card, love the concept of a Pre-show in general, helping tide us over until it’s time for the main show. I hope this becomes a regular thing.
