Bryan Alvarez: "growing discontent" with the WWE roster over NXT's roster

Postby DanielsonTHAGOAT » Feb 13, '15, 4:57 pm

On the Bryan and Vinny show, right after they went over the fatal four way from "Rival", Bryan mentioned getting a message from someone in WWE.

The main roster wrestlers are becoming increasingly agitated at how the NXT wrestlers are allowed to actually wrestle and put out all the stops when performing, while the main roster guys are forced to just "entertain" in nothing matches. Of course the main eventers get to sort of go all out on PPV, but the undercard is woefully limited in terms of match quality.

While the money is too good to give up, most of the roster loves wrestling, and are pretty sad about not being able to show what they can really do.

This is said to be doubly true for the women. The women are pretty mad, because they get to do next to nothing on TV shows, building up to nothing matches on the PPV.

The NXT women, however, are having outstanding matches that are presented as "co-main events" with the men.
As a note: nobody is upset at anybody from NXT.

But this fits in with the story that for months now, it's been increasingly obvious to everyone in the company that NXT is operating on a higher level than RAW/Smackdown in terms of quality.

This could be great news, unless they decide to just bury NXT like they did with Heyman's Smackdown run.

Not the same thing. HHH is running NXT so that wouldn't happen. If anything it could perhaps open a few eyes in Vince's circle, you have to imagine he's secretly a little envious that his protege is constantly praised universally and he's been called out of touch and what not.

If this is actually legitimate then I agree with @EmperorWu, this could be a good thing. if the wrestlers on the main roster are getting increasingly agitated with not being afforded the freedoms of the people on NXT, it could put more pressure on people overseeing the main shows to loosen things up a bit and allow for some creative freedom.

Not that I ever expect that to happen, of course.

They have every right to be upset. NXT is operated more like ROH used to when Bryan was there, and at this point WWE is just an "entertainment" show with wrestling as the filler.

This sounds awfully "newzy", so I'm not sure how much stock I'd put in it. But it definitely could be true given the almost universal praise the NXT shows get and how much Raw usually gets ripped. Don't think for a second that guys and girls in WWE don't notice stuff like that.

That being said, I'm not sure anybody actually has the wherewithal to do anything about it. None of them are going to to try and force Vince out and get Trips in. So unless Triple H and Steph try and perform a coup of creative from him, or there's a worker revolt, nothing will come of this other than blowing off some steam.

Here's a new quote from Meltzer on the topic:

"So story is accurate but it's inherent. It was the same thing in the OVW days, well not exactly the same, but similar. I get DMs from people on the main roster always after those specials. It's a common frustration. The top NXT performers are frustrated they aren't on the main roster making money. Then they will get more frustrated when they realize their dream. WWE guys are frustrated they aren't having the matches guys in NXT are when they know if they can perform before 400 fans in longer matches they can tear the house down."

It's just an example of wrong place, wrong time. The talent crop that deserves a push that came in before the whole NXT thing are the odd men out. It's sad but that's the way it is. With no SD title and the midcard being a joke, the ME scene is the place to be and it is packed at the moment. Just a tough go for some of the guys in the back.
