Why Daniel Bryan is back in the midcard?

Postby The Legend » Nov 09, '13, 8:08 am

This article talks about recent buyrates and the possible reason for Daniel Bryan to be out of the picture for now, maybe longer...

Maybe. But to be fair it IS a bleacher report article so take it with a grain of salt. I am not sure it is fair to blame everything on Bryan or that WWE is even doing that. They know they are lacking and seem to be in a transition.

I don't like how they been screwing Bryan. I enjoyed him in and out of the ring. I really liked when he was with Kane in the anger management storyline that was gold. Just with they gave Bryan the WHC and not yet another Cena title run

To be fair, Bleacher Report is about as trustworthy as any of the other new/dirt sheets you can find on wrestling. It wouldn't be the first time they've taken this attitude with a wrestler they are trying in the main event and they do have a track record of believing the main event of their shows plays a significantly bigger role than anything else in determining buyrate.

He's not. He's going to be teaming with Punk to take on the Wyatt family. That's pretty big. You don't have to be in the WWE Championship match to be a top guy.

Though the Wyatts haven't really done anything of note yet, so this feud definitely isn't any indication that he's going to be kept in the spotlight. Working alongside Punk might be a better sign, as Punk appears to have held on to his main event reputation for the most part.

It's sad. It's another case of some of their top players being out of action, so they pushed one of the fan favourites. But they never actually committed with him, it always seemed they might back out at any moment. Then they blamed him for the bad ratings that came with top guys being missing, an overall boring product and his own half-baked push, and now he's nowhere again. It's stupid, but they do this almost every year.

If you want to see one of your favourites get pushed, then make sure to watch WWE over the summer months. It might happen. But don't expect them to matter a damn come fall. By then the company are starting to think of Wrestlemania, and the only important people on that show have already been in the main event for almost a decade, at least.

The fact that they're currently pushing Big Show over Bryan is ridiculous also. The guy has never been a draw with WWE. When is the last time anyone gave a damn about a Big Show match? Every time he's moved into title contention, the whole audience has rolled its eyes. His stuff is going down better now than usual, but you know the match is going to be terrible and that if he wins the title (which he won't) the fans would crap all over it.

The problem is commitment in my mind. They committed to Cena back in 2005. They really threw all their weight behind him. And even when much of the fanbase rejected him, they were firm in their commitment. The same has not been true of anybody since. Every push has been half-assed, and nobody on the roster has reached their full potential as a result.

just like punk in '11, they are failing to strike when the iron is hot. They think beating down Bryan like 8 weeks in a row and never allowing him to give comeuppance, have him have promos almost cena like and not once mentioned in the forefront that he beat Cena clean and can't beat Orton in a fair fight would be so helpful. but i guess not tot them with Summerslam not doing what they want. we'll see come rumble time. but the saving grace in this is the fan support has not disappeared

I find it funny that WWE officials blame Bryan for buyrates and ratings, but don't talk about Orton or HHH. Especially when you consider HHH was more of the focal point of the feud. Bryan never actually overcame anything and never actually had a real title reign so I find it hard to believe that these numbers should fall solely on him. I get that bigger guys draw, but WWE's issue go a lot further than size of their wrestlers.

The arena roofs blow sky high when Bryan comes out, but yeah, WWE, it's him that people don't like.

I'm so fucking glad we're not a WWE Club anymore.

The fans love him more than anybody else right now. Bryan isn't going anywhere but up. Be patient.

I don't think it's a demotion, it's a simple step in procedure.

Orton & Bryan have feuded over the WWE Title for at least 3 Months.......it's time for another Face to step in and challenge Orton, and also time for Bryan to get in another feud.........strangely the same thing has happened to Punk......feuded with Heyman for at least 3 months, and has now moved on to another feud.

it's just procedure.

I'm through with WWE if they screw up everything Bryan has going for him right now. Hopefully this is just the case of them needing a new title feud and using him in a different capacity until they can get him back up to the title scene, maybe vs Cena.

Here's the thing - they didn't have to burn through his run in the main event in order to prioritize Orton versus somebody else. They made the choice to do that. Which does show that they're not making him a priority at the moment. It doesn't bode particularly well for his future. I'm not saying he won't stay as an upper card guy, but it looks like he won't be the 'top guy' that he has the potential to be.

The only reason this angle got over at first is because it looked like it was being done to elevate Bryan. Now it is clear that this is not the case.
