Who should retire next?

Postby PorkChop » Jun 07, '14, 1:41 pm

Undertaker is the obvious answer, but he's already semi-retired anyway.

My vote goes to the Big Show. Old, slow, unexciting, and is stale as both a face and a heel. On top of that, he's basically feuded with every guy going. He doesn't have much left to give the company, and I think he should probably call it a day within the next year or two.

Big Show
Kane
Rey Mysterio

Those three should be on the list.

Kane probably has enough cash stashed away to retire comfortably, even though he can still go for a few years.

Same as dakotbear to be honest.

Rey, because I don't want to see him suffer any more injuries. His knees are basically shot, to the point he can no longer springboard. That makes me sad.

Kane was fun as part of Team Hell No, and if he'd continued in that vain, I wouldn't really have a problem with him. He shouldn't be anywhere near title matches. Big Show, I've always quite liked to be honest, but he's outstayed his welcome and outlived his usefulness.

Absolutely Mysterio. His knees are in terrible condition and he's been suffering through a constant string of injuries for the last several years. He's not able to perform in the ring to the same extent as a result of his injuries, he was never able to cut a good promo anyway, and his popularity has plummeted recently. It's time for him to go while people still think of him fondly. He can get a Hall of Fame induction next year if he retires soon. It'd be the best for everyone.

Big Show could definitely leave too and I'd be pretty happy about it, but at least the guy can talk so he has something to add to shows. In the ring he's dire though. I never want to see him in a pay per view match again. Make him a personality or bodyguard or something and I'd be happy enough.

Kane is still actually decent as a talent used to elevate others. He's in killer shape still and can work a passable match. The only thing that puts people off Kane for the most part is that it's hard to take him seriously these days because of the massive amount of flip flopping they've done with his character over the last 10 years.

Out of the ones mentioned I'd say Mysterio needs to go the most. I feel like there is still something to get out of Big Show, if he is given something interesting to do by creative. He is solid on the mic and has a presence like few others; the staleness of his character is what drags him down. Kane should go back to being Corporate Kane, that was hilarious for a while and I wish it had gone on longer. His match with Bryan at Extreme Rules was good so Kane can still go in the ring. All in all, I'd like to see Mysterio>>>Show>>>Kane retiring in that order.

Mysterio probably should retire based on his health and long term well being. That being said, for me I'd still rather watch the shell of Mysterio have a match than Show or Kane.

I think Show would actually make a good announcer if they wanted to go there with him. Even as an on screen "GM" role he'd be pretty good. As a face GM on Raw combating the authority, he has the imposing physical stature to stand up to them and the mic skills to make it work.

I think it sucks growing up to watch some of your "childhood" retire. Most of these guys I've been watching for FOREVER now.

If I had to choose, I'd go with Mhysterio first and slowly edge out the others.

Mysterio for sure.

I don't mind Big Show sticking around for a while longer though, so long as he's kept out of the main event scene and is just used to push new talent.
No more Big Show HHH feuds please

Yeah, my main thought on Mysterio is just that he shouldn't continue in the ring for health reasons. His continuing to wrestle has become self-destructive. He's not able to stay healthy and even for the brief windows where he is, he's not performing that well in the ring because he can't afford to. And outside of this, he doesn't really have anything to offer.

There are conceivably roles there for Kane and Big Show on television. A lot of the stuff they're involved in sucks, but it doesn't have to. Big Show is a terrible wrestler these days, but he's a good talker. Kane isn't amazing in any category, but he's at least decent in pretty much every aspect. He's a solid all rounder, perfect for serving as enhancement talent.

The thing about Kane to me is I could see him transitioning to an Authority role kind of like how he was before putting the mask back on. I thought he was doing pretty well as a corporate suit.

Because of that I'll say Mysterio due to history of injuries and Big Show just for lack of anything left to do would fall in line to be next. One name not mentioned that I feel should be added to the list would be Christian.

Big Show - at least as an in-ring performer, anyway. He literally has nothing to offer feuding with anybody nor does he bring anything as a face or heel. He's a good personality and can talk so I wouldn't be opposed to seeing him in another capacity but as an in-ring performer he's next to useless at this point in his career.
