WrestleMania Fantasy Booking

Postby The Legend » Mar 20, '20, 2:09 pm

Coronavirus Shelter in Place orders got me going stir crazy at the end of the second week of doing next to nothing, so I decided to burn some time and write a fantasy WrestleMania card using the seven matches that are already confirmed and those highly likely to happen.

For those that don't know Mania is set to occur over two nights on both Saturday and Sunday with NXT's show likely changed to Wednesday evening before the show instead of on Saturday.

SATURDAY

Confirmed
Universal Championship – Goldberg (c) vs Roman Reigns: The WWE has been trying for years to have Roman Reigns main event a WrestleMania and not get booed out of the ring, it will happen this year!! There’s not much to this feud and there’s not much of a story between these two, we’ll see if WWE can do better than a battle of the spears. As for the match itself, the shorter the better and to make it just a big in ring brawl would be the best way to go about this one. Reigns wins with a spear into the announce table, rolls Goldberg back in the ring and hits a Superman Punch to win the title.

RAW Women’s Championship – Becky Lynch (c) vs Shayna Baszler: I’d turn this one into a submission match and have them both go at it in an MMA type of battle with pro wrestling mixed in. After both get some good offense in Lynch should get desperate to retain the belt facing her toughest challenge to date. Lynch locks in the Dis-Arm-Her a few times, but Baszler always powers out and eventually chokes out Lynch to become champion.

Kevin Owens vs Seth Rollins: Before this match starts AOP gets jumped by the Street Profits and get left neutralized and unable to help Rollins as he takes on Owens. Left without much of his backup, Rollins trying to get underhanded and take shortcuts, but Owens always finds the response. Eventually, Buddy Murphy tries to take out Owens, but hits Rollins instead, Owens then gives Murphy a powerbomb and stuns Rollins to pickup the big win.

Predicted
Intercontinental Championship – Sami Zayn (c) vs Braun Strowman: This one, the Artist Collective of Zayn, Nakamura and Cesaro just becomes too much to overcome to re-establish Zayn as a threat with a big win and retention of his championship. Strowman does successfully wipe out Nakamura, but Cesaro’s ability to match his strength turns the tide and let’s Zayn come up with the surprise victory.

US Title Championship – Andrade (c) vs Rey Mysterio vs Angel Garza vs Humberto Carrillo: Just let these four guys go nuts in an almost Cruiserweight Championship kind of way to open the first night of the show, Humberto pulls off the win by pinning Garza. This will allow a feud with Andrade to take on new life into the next PPV (whenever the hell that will be).

24/7 Championship – Riddick Moss (c) vs Rob Gronkowski: Don’t just have Gronk host Wrestlemania, have him surprisingly challenge for and win the 24/7 title on the first night in a backstage segment to add some levity in the middle of the show.

SUNDAY

Confirmed
WWE Championship – Brock Lesnar (c) vs Drew McIntyre: I’m not exactly sure how they did it, but they have managed to create a main event where the audience is actually behind the face going into WrestleMania. For that fact alone this match needs to be the last match on the second night to truly end the show on a high note. The WWE needs to force Brock to actually put in the work for this match, it needs to be hard hitting, pretty lengthy and tell a true story for the televised audience since there is no live audience reaction to fall back on. Drew Mac gets the win in completely clean fashion and Lesnar can go off to Minnesota and retirement.

John Cena vs “The Fiend” Bray Wyatt: This match needs to fully take advantage of the fact that this show won’t have fans and doesn’t even realistically need to take place in the ring much if at all. I’d even have Wyatt transport them or some sort of other concept to move locations and create some sort of aura back into his character. Wyatt needs to get the win and do it convincingly to help rebuild his character after the Goldberg debacle.

NXT Women’s Championship – Rhea Ripley (c) vs Charlotte Flair: I’d actually have Flair win the title after a great match and have that build a rivalry with Ripley and a victory she’d get back later, but I think it would freshen the women’s divisions on all three shows to have Flair back on NXT, because she’s taken up so much of the oxygen on RAW and SD for so long.

Undertaker vs AJ Styles: Styles needs this win, the OC needs this win, let’s just do the logical thing and give them the win. Styles can carry Taker to a good story with some bells and whistles and tricks, which is what this match needs before Styles gets the victory with a forearm smash.

Predicted
Last Man Standing -- Edge vs Randy Orton: This thing can go all over the Performance Center and should be a total brawl. Beth Phoenix should get involved, Christian should get involved by turning on Edge, but in the end Edge comes up with an opportunistic way to take advantage of Orton’s aggression and get the victory.

RAW Tag Championship – Street Profits (c) vs AOP: This match gets added to the show after the brawl between the two teams last night. AOP and Rollins could use a win after Owens defeated their leader on Saturday night, and they will pick up the win by cheating with a role reversal with the wrong one picking up the pinfall to win the match after a chaotic finishing segment with both teams, Rollins and Owens all getting in the ring.
