Punk & Stone Cold are similar in the way that they have chosen to leave WWE. They left on their own terms wasn't per say big with the fans if they don't announce it or make a bug deal out of it. Every time either one of them is asked about returning to the WWE they answer the question without actually answering it. They say that they don't know, their happy with their current status but leave a tiny minuscule window of possibility.

The difference is their relationship with WWE when they depart. Obviously Steve Austin is in a good place with Vince the 'E as he still makes rare appearances for hosting or special referee. Punk doesn't seem to be particularly upset with WWE but at the same time, his departure was sudden & he really has had remotely nothing to do with WWE since so it might have been an unpleasant departure but I'm sure there are no hard feelings.

Who know...

It's in Punk's hands if a return is to happen obviously.

Yeah, dude looks way happier in this interview than he looked in most of his final six months/year with the WWE. Good for him, seems like leaving really was the right decision for him.

As for the way he said it, I read this into it: he has no plans and doesn't really want to go back to WWE at the present moment or foreseeable future, but there's a chance he'll do more of a legends thing in the future.

"I'm definitely going to go back to WWE"

Cm Punk was an awesome champion, the longest reigning champ of the modern era. But in my mind Punk was also a bit of a whiner and a spotlightjunkie. My feeling is that he was upset cos he wasnt allowed to break the streak last year and was upset that he had to job to the part time golden boy The Rock while Punk has busted his ass off for over 7 years. Im happy he is enjoying his sabattical. But as soon as he smells a good paycheck he will be back in wrestling one way or th other
