What's the scariest game you've ever played?

I remember shitting myself through Condemned: Criminal Origins. It's not the best game but it's good for a thrill. Same with Doom 3.

Something about BioShock really unsettled me at times, I'd have to go with that.

Yeah probably Bioshock. I tend to stay away from the horror genre games so I've escaped many of the more famously scary ones, but Bioshock definitely had some really eerie/scary moments.

Definitely Dead Space. That game literally made me shout from fright and my youngest brother was laughing at me. I remember the first monster popped out and I yelled and I just beat it to death with the gun. I never did beat that game .

The remake of Resident Evil 1 would be mine. The darker graphics and atmosphere, along with the fantastic score makes it a really creepy game right from the start. But the monsters and mysteries in the game, and particularly some of the additions created specifically for the remake, put it over the top. The Crimson Heads were freaky as hell and they made you worry about going into rooms you had already been in. Lisa was even worse - whenever I replay the game, I still dread the introduction of Lisa. Having that invincible freak show following me around just keeps me firmly on edge.

I'm playing the original Silent Hill at the moment, and while the graphics are outdated, this game is still creepy as hell. Back when it came out it might have been unparalleled. It's so surreal and confusing. And it really feels like there is no escaping the horror, given that the main map is absolutely swarming with enemies. Even when you're just moving from place to place there's no getting away from them.

New Vegas, getting chased by 10 or so death claws is pretty damn scary.

Aw c'mon, New Vegas can't have been scary enough to name your top scary game!? Sure, those moments were definitely scary as hell, but overall that game was BRILLIANT, HILARIOUS! It doesn't deserve to be in the "scary category." Perhaps the "adrenaline pumping category" though.

I have never found any game to be "scary". The only reason I said NV is because its the only game I can think of that actually got my blood pumping, when said death claws were chasing me.

The worst part is thinking you're getting to the end of a creepy area like the school, and you're suddenly transported to an alternate dimension "scary version" of the school. I was just thinking "that shit I just went through was supposed to be the NICE version"?

Ugh, I know. And let's face it, when it comes to scary stuff, adding "little kids" to it isn't my idea of a party.. so ending up at the school even on "nice mode" was too much for me. Alternate dimension part was like OHGODNONOPENOPENOPENOPENOPENOPE etc.

I do think I made it as far as the hospital, though. After one of the funky ass nurses, I was out.

I do have REmake, but I consider that more of an awesome technical remake of the first game but the atmosphere of the original just can't be matched. It's like comparing the original Dawn of the Dead with the remade version, although that might sound harsh. Don't get me wrong, REmake is still awesome but it didn't creep me out like the original did.

Is REmake the Gamecube one? Not sure if that's what you're talking about, but I know that's another one that fucking scared the shit out of me.
